“This is textbook.”
And still happening. @forlittlekeira @ @PViaterLawyer thank you for all your advocacy to help others after what you’ve been through.
"In Canada, 30 to 40 children per year are killed by a parent." — @forlittlekeira, who lost her daughter in an apparent murder-suicide, advocated for #KeirasLaw to educate judges on domestic violence. At 8/11pm with @PViaterLawyer | Producers: @spaikin & @PreetiBhuyan

It's official. Wonderful news.
Breaking news! Today Bill 102 was granted Royal Assent. This means that Keira’s Law is now law in #Ontario mandating training on gender-based #IPV and coercive control for provincial court judges and justices of the peace. @forlittlekeira @MillcroftAD
Thank you @forlittlekeira for your endless advocacy. Kiera will never be forgotten. And so many women and children will hopefully get the justice and protection they deserve.

Dear incoming interns:
Remember that your attendings have been practicing medicine for years, while you're essentially getting a new job every 4 weeks.
Know that your job is not to know everything. You job is to show up, ask questions, & care deeply for your patients.
People complain about long Wait times to get non-urgent appointments & long waits in the office. But what do you think we are doing? Caring for someone else who needs it.

Happy Pride Month from your favorite gay surgeon! Visibility is important. I can’t tell you the number of wonderful conversations I’ve had with my patients because I proudly wear my 🏳️🌈 pin to work daily. And I will fight to keep creating these safe spaces. Happy Pride!
I would argue most family doctors are working beyond their actual capacity, to try to make up for systemic failures. And it’s not working anymore.
Many family doctors are working beyond their desired capacity further inducing high or severe work-related burnout. Learn more about the experiences of family doctors since the onset of COVID-19: ow.ly/VUH450OvnGa

Today's World Family Doctor Day. These MDs are the *foundation* of healthcare. Beyond recognition, they need resources, remuneration, respect, & the influence on our system that befits their training & expertise. Much ❤️ to my FP friends & the FPs who care for my fam! #WFDD2023

Was assaulted today at
Drive Test #Kitchener by a woman who kept spewing racist hate against "f$@king brown people" when asked to wait in line. When I told her this was not OK, she came up to my face to threaten me. That's when people (and I) started recording her. A thread...

With #patient & #caregiver stories HCPs can see with other eyes, think with other minds, feel with other hearts, as well as their own. Stories aren’t data but they strengthen data and provide meaning that can lead to new & better understanding of what brings your patient to you.
I never thought we’d have to put up signs saying abuse wont be tolerated but here we are.
Replying to @SandyTecimer
I’m a medical rep, I visit physicians and their clinics across the country. You’re not alone, it’s becoming a pandemic. I see signs stating physical and verbal abuse won’t be tolerated…really?!? It needs to be printed? What have we become?
Patients please note: your doctors are people too.
Lately I’ve had to reschedule patient appointments for personal medical appointments.
The patient responses are sometimes “Hope she’s OK”
but more often things like
- why can’t someone see me?
- I have a life too

They are angry & inconvenienced, I get that. Maybe they are scared about something.
We always have same day/next day URGENT appointments
Non urgent things have to wait, our colleagues are also overwhelmed.
Would love to get extra docs to help, nobody wants to.
