2k numbers for Wemby tonight. 52/24/2/2/8 final stat-line. Not their best win. Up by 20 at half and came down to the buzzer. Non-Wemby minutes are still a huge issue that needs to be addressed and the three point shooting was an abysmal 14% on 5-36 shooting. Absolutely monster game from Wemby though. Harp also had a solid 21/5 on 9-15. Thatās 6 straight for the Spurs
29/15/2/2/5 for Wemby in just 17 minutes in the first half. Owning the paint in every way. Mavs canāt do anything but hack him. Heās already shot 15 FTās. Just a completely different beast
Big games from Mikel Brown Nolan Traore and Danny Wolf. Danny Wolf put up 12/5/3 in 19 minutes shooting 4-6 from the field and 2-4 from deep. 6ā11 250 stretch-connecting 4 with great feel and vision who can also play the situational 5. Drafted 27th last year by the Nets. One of the guys Marks is hoping pans out, and heās looked realy efficient so far this year. Mikel had his best game this season with 18/2/4/1/1 on 6-11 shooting and 2-4 from three in 20 minutes and another solid game from Nolan Traore with 16/4/2/3 on 7-11 and 2-5 in 27 minutes as Nets get the win. Exactly what you wanna see
Such an awesome win for the Nets, their first home win of the season.
⢠Danny Wolf was fantastic. Came off the bench in the second half and changed the game. Frankly, Wolf brought with him the most fluid and energetic Nets basketball of the season. Earned a rotation spot.
⢠Nolan Traore & Mikel Brown Jr. were dazzling. 48 minutes of high level point guard play. 20-years old.
⢠Michael Porter Jr. & Julius Randle played well and within the flow. MPJās three straight threes to open the fourth mightāve won the Nets the game.
⢠Terance Mann ā unsung hero. Impacted the game and Jordi Fernandez finished with him.
⢠Jordi Fernandez made the right adjustments at last. Danny Wolf & Terance Mann were game changers. Smart move to quickly move off Chaney Johnson in the second half. Agreed with the decision to finish with the group that had it rolling rather than bringing back Randle, MBJ etc.
Good win.
Lakers would do this trade, Hornets wouldnāt. Hornets would have to have lost faith in Naz and have enough belief in Steinbach to even entertain this. They also would need to be high enough on Carr, but they already have Kon and BMill, so not likely. Iām doing this trade in a heartbeat if itās on the table for the Lakers though. Couldnāt say deal quick enough. Naz can start at the 4 plus also backup 5 and Tidjane still has upside as a 3&D. Lakers would kill for this to come to fruition
Latest @BleacherReport Los Angeles Lakers Trade Idea to Land a New Dream Targetāconsidering the recent āissueā with Naz Reid in Charlotte, I add him to LALās wish list. Today, the Lakers donāt have enough to offer, TBD at deadline: bleacherreport.com/articles/ā¦
Just wanna clear something up. The Warriors knew Porzingis was dealing with POTS. Every player is contractually required to be truthful about their medical history and anything that can affect performance under the Uniform Player Contract. Thereās also a league-wide medical database that teams have access to. If he had withheld a major condition, that would be a contractual breach and grounds for contract termination.
The Warriors are not delivering payments to Kristaps Porzingis on his $20 million salary, ruling that he is not rendering services, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. Golden State is permitted to move his contract at any point before the Feb. 11 deadline even without paying him currently, and will continue exhausting trade avenues as the 31-year-old leans toward ending his NBA career.
Absorbing Porzingis' near-expiring deal would allow a rival team to move a salary out and save money and clear a roster spot via a buyout.
Love what Iām seeing from the Grizzlies so far. My sleeper team for this year. Boozer is a franchise cornerstone and thatās not even a debate. Playoffs this year if health stays on their side. One little thought I wanna touch on was their 32nd pick in this past draft. They went with 25 year old Richie Saunders coming off an ACL when Meleek Thomas was right there for the taking. Walking bucket on efficiency and he showed it at Arkansas next to Acuff and Brazile. Not a knock, just didnāt see the vision during the draft, and Meleek has been going off since he was drafted. They made great moves parting with Bane, JJJ, and Ja, really freed them up and opened some doors in hindsight. They made another great move this year trading down to pick 21 and getting Isaiah Stewart, 5 seconds, and drafting Karim Lopez. Karim can really pan out in a year or two. Good thing is they control all of their first round picks from now until 2033, have 3 first rounders next year, and more incoming first rounders and pick swaps. They also have one of the cleanest sheets in the league with a lot of room for flexibility to make the right moves when they arise. Plus the $28.9M TPE from the JJJ trade available until the deadline. Gonna end this by saying them trading up to draft Cedric Coward last year was a 20/20 vision move. Absolutely nailed that pick. Couldnāt be higher on the Grizzlies
The Grizzlies entering the draft with 16th pick and leaving with Isaiah Stewart, Karim Lopez, and two more second round picks. Great stuff
So far, the trade tree from the Bane trade is Cedric Coward, Stewart, Lopez, two second-round picks with a 2029 first-round pick swap and a 2030 first-round pick on the way
Very short. Booz Edey Coward Wells Ty GG Stew Post Cam Grant SPJ. Versatility & depth. Been trying to let people know. Playoffs if health stays on their side this year. Just a young PG away from their future being fully secured. They have the $28.9M TPE from the JJJ trade active until February and are $45M under the ceiling. They can make a move before the TPE expires at the deadline and easily absorb the salary if the right oppurtunity arises. Bright bright future for Memphis.
Grizzlies vs Blazers tonight. Really looking forward to this one. Blazers are first in the league in offensive rating (128.7) and net rating (+18.6) so far. Memphis sits at +9.8 net (5th) with a 117.5 ORtg and 107.7 DRtg.
Wanna see an efficient shooting night from Booz, and Edey to stay out of early foul trouble. Edeyās defensive impact is elite. 2.0 BPG in limited minutes and the Grizzlies have been extremely solid around the rim with him on the floor.
Ja back in Memphis facing his old team. Edey vs Clingan is a real size matchup and Booz gets an early season test. Ty has been the engine for Memphis early (29.8 PPG, 6.5 APG on high efficiency). Really happy heās good to go for tonight. Should be a great game.
Status Update for @memgrizz:
Ty Jerome is available and will start for the Grizzlies tonight at Portland.
Spurs got the W but not their best game. No Lauri JJJ or Nurkic for the Jazz. Harp struggled finishing on the drive but the kickouts were opening up shots. Devin stepped up bigtime in the 2nd half and OT, closed out the game with Wemby. Still need to find their rhythm with this lineup but theyāll make the needed adjustments. Wemby had a great overall game and was sinking them from deep. Tarris should be getting Lukeās minutes. Steph and Harp just need to keep getting downhill and make sure the threeās drop. Wanna see Julian getting more involved on offense, 5 shots after 8-10 from three last night shouldnāt happen. Fox was active on D, handsy and getting deflections. Seems like his focus is facilitating and getting the young guys going. Not against it, he can get his when he needs. Early season grind continues on
Great first half from Wemby. Dominant in every way. Full control of the paint and looks way more active and poised getting to his spots. Everyone else needs to step up. Bad shooting night from Harp Castle and Devin so far and need to secure the boards
Wemby already with a three, a dunk, an alleyoop, and a middy from top of the key. Perfect way to start for him
Man am I high on DP Ace and the Jazz future, but they are about to get worked by the Spurs tonight. Wonāt be convinced of Devin at the 4, should be Julian or Tobias. Heās better suited at the 2 or 3. Fox Harper and Castle wonāt be an issue. Castle hitting 38% on 9 attempts per game so far and Fox is at 46%. Great early signs. Wanna see Harp attacking the lanes more tonight, heās been settling out on the wing. The shot will come along but doesnāt need to force it. The driving creation is where heās absolutely elite. He can live off the drive and kicks. Wanna see the same offensive Wemby as vs the Kings, attacking in the post and working the midrange. Waiting on more high-post hub action. They need to start giving Tarris more of Lukeās minutes. Iām just gonna continue to say it until it happens. Julian is a sharpshooter, he proved his worth in the playoffs. Gonna be a good game from the Spurs tonight
Devastating news. Two starters one All-NBA and both All-Defense out for the season. OKC were one of the title favorites. These are two huge blows. Secondary creation and perimeter defense are gonna take a big hit, especially the defense after also parting with Dort this summer. Door opens up a little bit in the West for one of the top seeds. OKC have good depth but they are very limited cap wise. DPE should be in play but OKC is right under the 2nd apron and no open roster spots remaining. Gonna need to wait and see what $ they are granted before they make a move.
Just a few points of emphasis after first Spurs game. First, Jayden Quaintance canāt come soon enough. Spurs desperately need his defense and rebounding. Something iāve been vocal on. Most likely redshirt year though. Second, I understand itās first game of the season, but why is Tarris Reed sitting on the bench? Heās an upgrade over Luke on both sides of the floor, and a MUCH better rebounder. Second and third chance points killed the Spurs again with Luke on the floor. Same issue they ran into in the playoffs. Third, if they are gonna run Fox Castle Harper, Tobias or Julian need to be the 4. I know Tobias is out but Devin doesnāt have the size or speed/length to cover at the 4, and his help defense ability there is limited. Spurs started coming alive in the 2nd half, Harp and Wemby both arenāt gonna have offensive games like that often. Credit to OKC defense, always top-tier. They have so much shooting and size/length plus a platoon of defenders and a deep deep bench. Thatās still who the Spurs will need to get through in the playoffs. Long season and only the first game, will see how things shape up over the next few weeks.
Tarris Reed. Luke gets eaten alive on the boards. Thatās exactly why Tarris was drafted. Put Tarris in.
OKC shooting 52% from the field and 71% from deep on 10/14. Spurs shooting 29% and 25%. Harp and Fox doing a great job getting into the lane but shots just arenāt falling. OKC really contesting and closing out everything. OKCās making the extra pass finding the open man and getting rewarded for it. 17 dimes. Castle and Harp playing good D on Shai but heās been at MVP level all game. A lot of production from OKC bench too, 11 different players have already scored. Will see if Spurs can come out hotter in the 2nd half
