My campaign is proud to be endorsed by Seattle Gay News, @SeattleGayNews.
SGN is the longest running queer newspaper in the Pacific Northwest and the third oldest in the United States.
"Love her or hate her, none can dispute that Sawant has been an effective grassroots campaigner who has moved the needle on progressive causes in the city, as well as throughout the country. Her years of relentless advocacy for working-class, LGBTQIA+, and social justice issues has garnered her respect among supporters, and admonishments from the establishment: billionaires, corporations, and both political parties.
"Unlike most candidates, Kshama Sawant is running as an independent socialist, under her own party’s banner. Being a socialist, she is a strong advocate for renters' rights, universal healthcare, taxing the rich, and workers’ rights to unionize. And with more and more voters looking away from the traditional two-party system toward other, more progressive socialist alternatives, Sawant is poised to offer Rep. Smith his biggest challenge yet."
Ballots are out now! Votes are due by August 4th! Help us GET OUT THE VOTE for the socialist who beat the billionaires! Join thousands of working and young people across the country who've signed up to volunteer or donated at our website.

Honored to have the endorsement of @SeattleGayNews in my reelection for Congress.
At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under constant attack, I am proud to be a fighter for the community, and I am proud to stand with journalists who tell our stories with truth and courage.
This endorsement means everything, and it fuels the fight ahead. 💜
As a disclaimer, the SGN does not receive any money from WA taxpayers nor is a non-profit organization. However, I think it is clear through this video that the only one who is truly gender obsessed in this situation is you Brandi Kruse. Let trans people live their lives 🏳️⚧️⚧️

Seattle Gay News (SGN) is in the building! Before "We Live In Color" returns for Season 4 this Thursday, host Deaunte Damper (@DamperDeaunte) announced a new partnership with SGN (@SeattleGayNews). Building on Damper’s commitment to serving the Black queer community, every episode of Season 4 will feature the SGN Community Brief, bringing hyper-local information, relevant policy updates, and urgent calls for public safety from the SGN newsroom.
As one of the country's longest-running LGBTQIA+ publications, SGN is all about legacy building and creating unity through troubling times. While the core of "We Live In Color" remains celebrating the community’s inspirational leaders and creatives, partnering with SGN deepens Damper’s focus on local action and systemic change.
“It's only right that we partner with SGN,” Damper said. “Community needs to know the news, and who better to uplift the news and our community story than them?”
Big shoutout to the SGN team, including columnist Mattie Mooney, Managing Editor Madison Jones, and Associate Editor Calvin Jay Emerson. Thank you SGN!

As someone who previously worked at a couple high school special ed programs at SPS, I once met a student at Ingraham who'd call himself a "diva" on his own volition. Also, giving a 16-17 year old a pride-related coloring sheet is not that crazy. These students are teenagers too.
On December 11, the Seattle Office of Police Accountability (OPA) held its first “Building the Bridge” event at City Hall.
