When the Online Safety Act was introduced to Parliament by the last Conservative government, it was presented as an important tool to protect children from online harms.
Since then, it has done anything but. Ofcom has even shown extraterritorial ambitions, infringing on the free speech rights of American citizens and unfairly targeting US businesses.
Ofcom’s own figures show that the Act has had no impact on the harmful content children can access online since the children’s safety duties came into force in July 2025.
Ofcom said: “We have not observed any significant changes in the incidence or severity of any kind of content over the first nine months after the children’s safety duties came into force.”
Now ministers want to ban under-16s from using social media.
These online censorship measures are clearly failing to achieve their stated aim. It raises the question: was this ever really about protecting children — or was there something more sinister at play?

Britain is worse than a communist country. In the Soviet Union, you weren't allowed to mock politicians. But at least they weren't replacing you with cannibals and trying to trans your kids.

Shocking racial discrimination in the charity sector.
This should be the basis of many Employment Tribunals , but in the current political climate what would the outcome be ?

Yet ANOTHER illegal Migrant one of the few kicked out of Britain has returned & driving illegally stopped by police & hey ho has been kicked out again; I will post again on him in a week or two when he returns for the 3rd time! We just cannot protect our Borders or Streets👇🤷♂️🙄
A driver who was in the country illegally was left to rue an unexpected encounter with an unmarked police car.
The 26-year-old man was driving along Hucknall Lane in Bulwell when he cut up the crew of an unmarked police car.
Shortly after being pulled over on the evening of 24 September, the man was found to be in the country illegally, having been deported in June of this year.
He has now been removed from the country for a second time.

Burnham needs to understand he isn’t the mayor any longer. He’s not a celebrity, he’s not everyone’s friendly Manchester mate.
He is the Prime Minister.
Act like it.
There are a great number of difficult decisions required - he needs to start taking them. Urgently.

People who want us to pay slavery reparations are not only ignorant of history.
They want to impoverish their constituents to compensate those who have never been wronged.
Slavery existed in every culture and every generation of world history. Only the British stopped it.

The UK government has, since April, spent no less than £61 billion - that’s £61,000,000,000 - on debt interest payments.
That’s equivalent to our entire annual defence budget - on just half a year’s worth of debt service costs, not paying back a penny of our national debt.
For £61bn you could build 40 state-of-the-art hospitals.
Or employ 100,000 nurses for a decade
Or fund free-at-the-point-of-use social care, across the entire UK, for three years.
Watch this short “When The Facts Change” video for more on the UK’s soaring debt interest bill - the biggest national scandal our mainstream media continues to ignore.

Do you think it is fair that parents, therapists and religious leaders could spend up to five years behind bars for having well-intentioned conversations with gender-confused children or sharing their faith’s teachings?
We at the Free Speech Union certainly do not. Parents, above all, should be able to have these important conversations with their children.
But the Government clearly disagrees. The draft bill to ban conversion therapy, introduced by the Starmer Government, could see parents who attempt to dissuade their gender-confused children from embarking on dangerous, life-changing and irreversible medical pathways locked up for five years.
Unlike previous iterations of conversion therapy ban bills, this bill does not include the same carve-outs for parents and religious leaders. That was a political choice.
This bill is a blatant assault on religious freedom and free speech. The Free Speech Union opposes it.
