Lemmy Kilmister spent his teenage years playing in blues-rock bands such as The Rockin' Vicars before working as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix on one of his early British tours.
That close connection to the music scene led him to become the bassist for Hawkwind in 1971, until an arrest for attempting to smuggle drugs into Canada in 1975 resulted in his expulsion from the band.
