Applying the Same Logic to Shanks:
Shanks primarily fights with Gryphon and can cut when needed. He is a swordsman in the broad sense.
His most distinctive and impressive demonstrated abilities, however, are specialized Haki applications that do not require pure swordsmanship to function:
- The long-range Conqueror’s Haki projection that forced Greenbull to revert from miles away (the sword was not required for the effect).
- Observation Haki that functions as an “Observation Killer,” disrupting future sight.
- Divine Departure as a Haki shockwave delivered through the sword, closer in nature to impact projection than to precise cutting mastery.
These are not identical to the core skill set of blade precision and Black Blade refinement that defines Mihawk. Mihawk will use strong Advanced Conqueror’s Haki through Yoru. That does not mean he possesses every specialized Haki application Shanks has shown, any more than Vista’s superior sword skills allow him to match Law’s Devil Fruit techniques.
In the *Pirate Warriors* series, Shanks fights using his weapon, employs time-slowing manipulation, leaps into the air to unleash lightning-fast attacks from above, do these things characterize a pure swordsman like Zoro or Mihawk? No...
