GARDEN UPDATE:
A tour under this extended brutal weather in NE Florida.
Most of it is a graveyard right now, dead and dying plants from the heat.
A few are thriving: basil going strong, strawberries making daughters!🍓
Curious if anyone else here is having a better season?
PCA … and the P stands for Platinum 😤

This is a great explanation.
The tl:dr is that the way our government works a bill has to pass in the House, and in the Senate, then be signed in by the president (there’s some exceptions but this is the gist).
Everything we wanted passed the House. NOTHING passed the Senate!
I don’t think the GOP truly grasped how badly they were fucking up.
I talked to people who normally have ZERO interest in politics, and they were legitimately pissed off.
They didn’t see the major reform they expected, and they were REALLY MAD about it.
No true accountability.
No true mass deportations.
No meaningful decrease in the deficit.
Lots of very long vacations and no work.
No bills passed that REDUCED the government’s involvement in their lives.
People are pissed off that they voted Trump into office and the GOP kept slow-walking every reform they wanted.
Where were all the DOGE cuts that were promised?
Where was the SAVE Act?
Why didn’t we defund the Taliban?
Why did bills pass the House and then disappear in the Senate?
Why did the GOP keep funding left-wing NGOs that target and hate MAGA Republicans?
Why were members of the GOP pushing for mass amnesty instead of mass deportations?
People woke up, and they weren’t happy about it.
People believed they voted for the Trump agenda, and instead, they felt like they got the same old Washington.
Republicans in Congress didn’t produce tangible results, and they just discovered that frustration has consequences...
...but by the time they realized how deep-seated that frustration was, it was already too late.
Republicans had EVERYTHING.
The White House.
The House.
The Senate.
...and they totally blew it and people were pissed and voted like they were pissed, which sadly is the price of doing nothing when you had everything.
Completely avoidable.
If Thune had been removed prior to the Midterms, Republicans might have won more elections.
If the SAVE act had been passed to begin with, we wouldn't be in this situation, because SOMETHING good will have happened.
Thune has blocked everything. He has to go.
Replying to @alexbruesewitz
There is absolutely no circumstance where Senator Thune should remain in a leadership position.
He obstructed President Trump’s agenda.
Two more very important factors in Florida:
1. We love and respect DeSantis. If he runs 2028, he will absolutely win Florida. It’s a guarantee. Best governor ever.
2. FL Amendment 3 (property taxes) was so important we HAD to get out to vote even if we didn’t want to.
There’s a reason why Florida was the only state that went darker red.
Florida was the only state “immune” from the blue wave.
That’s not a coincidence.
They were the only state that fully cleansed their election system.
Desantis deserves credit for that.
Mara Lago area even flipped a blue seat.
Florida will eventually become the template.
Here’s how Florida protected it’s election system:
(Brave search)
SB 90 (signed May 2021)
•Required voters to renew their vote-by-mail registration every election cycle(previously valid for four years)
•Restricted ballot drop boxes to early-voting hours and required staffing
•Banned third-party ballot collection("ballot harvesting"); possessing more than two mail ballots became a crime
•Required the last four digits of a Social Security or driver's license number to register or request a mail ballot
•Banned private/outside funding of election administration (the so-called "Zuckerbucks" ban)
•Mandated hourly real-time turnout data on a statewide dashboard
SB 524 (signed April 2022)
•Created the Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS), a 25-person unit under the Secretary of State, one of the first dedicated election-crime units in the nation
•Made collecting more than two mail ballots a felony (previously a misdemeanor)
•Required annual voter-roll cleanup(previously every two years)
•Banned ranked-choice voting statewide
•Raised fines for voter-registration violations from $1,000 to $50,000
Florida SAVE Act / HB 991 (signed April 2026)
•Expanded citizenship verification at voter registration
•Removed student ID as an acceptable form of voter identification
•Tightened candidate qualification rules
————
Did you catch the important “safeguards” that protected against yesterday’s election steal?
They centered around registration integrity, vote counting integrity and ballot integrity.
And “student ID” is not valid to vote.
Citizenship requirement to vote.
This is all coming nationwide.
But first you have to expose and prosecute the fraudulent election system officials to kick off the demand for a nationwide cleansing.
I believe that is incoming.
JD, nobody is pissed at you.
Most people I know aren’t even pissed at Trump. You two have worked your butts off and it’s obvious.
Thune. EVERYONE is furious at Thune.
Some people are upset about the war. Some of us understand. But this is the Senate’s fault. We all know it.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

I swear, and I’m not joking: if you voted for a fucking Islamist terrorist, you’re insane and have no right to vote.
You’re crazy.
