On 23 October 2013, Safar Ali was forcibly disappeared by security forces from his home in Hub.Thirteen years have passed, yet his family remains trapped in the anguish of uncertainty, waiting for answers that have never come. Thirteen years of family gatherings, cherished memories and ordinary moments overshadowed by one unbearable absence. No family should be forced to live this way. Safar Ali’s case is part of the enduring crisis of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families continue to demand the whereabouts of their loved ones while others mourn victims of extrajudicial killings. Every disappearance tears through a family, every unanswered question deepens the wound, every denial of accountability reinforces the injustice. Meanwhile, the puppet government of Balochistan works to manufacture a narrative of progress and normalcy, carefully projecting an image that bears little resemblance to the suffering experienced by countless Baloch families. This is the logic of colonial domination, control the narrative, sanitise the reality, marginalise the voices of the oppressed and turn demands for justice into inconveniences to be managed rather than rights to be respected. But a polished narrative cannot erase a painful reality. No staged image, political slogan or manufactured account of development can conceal the anguish of families searching for their disappeared loved ones. The reality of Balochistan is not defined by the image its rulers seek to project, but by the lived experiences of its people. A government’s credibility cannot be built on appearances while families remain without answers. Development without dignity, peace without justice and progress that ignores human suffering are nothing more than political theatre. Thirteen years later, Safar Ali’s family is still waiting. Their wait is not a statistic, it is a human tragedy and an indictment of a system that has yet to provide them with answers. His whereabouts must be disclosed, his family’s right to truth must be respectedand accountability must no longer be evaded. The suffering of Baloch families cannot be whitewashed by propaganda and the truth of Balochistan cannot be buried beneath a manufactured narrative. #ReleaseSafarAli #EndEnforcedDisappearances

Eight months have passed since my father, Mohammad Bakhsh Sajidi, and my uncles, Naeem Sajidi and Engineer Rafeeq Baloch, were forcibly disappeared from Hub Chowki by Pakistani forces. For eight months, our family has been denied the basic right to know their whereabouts or fate. I urge @UN_HRC @UNHumanRights @OHCHR @eu_eeas @Europarl_EN @antonioguterres and the international human rights community to take notice and make Pakistan accountable. @WGEID @TheICMP @johnmcdonnellMP @KenRoth @HamidMirPAK @EUPakistan @EUCouncil @UN_SPExperts #EndEnforcedDisappearances #Balochistan #HumanRights
In the early hours of 2 February, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a large contingent of the Pakistani army raided multiple houses in Hub Chowki,Balochistan, and forcibly disappeared Retired Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Bakhsh Sajidi, his brother Naeem Sajidi, and Engineer Rafeeq Baloch, the former Chief of Sui Gas Balochistan. Mohammad Bakhsh Sajidi is the father of @DrNaseemBaluch Chairman of the @BNMovement_ , while Naeem Sajidi and Engineer Rafeeq Baloch are his uncles. The raid and subsequent abductions were carried out without any legal justification, reflecting the ongoing pattern of collective punishment and enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

Today the BYC Leaders’ Legal Council held a press conference in Quetta, raising serious concerns over the life imprisonment sentence handed down to Gulzadi Baloch. The lawyers stated that Gulzadi was not provided a fair opportunity to defend herself, raising serious concerns regarding due process and judicial independence. They also highlighted concerns about pressure on judges during the proceedings. The legal counsel demanded a fair trial, an independent investigation into the proceedings, and a fresh legal review of Gulzadi Baloch’s case. #ReleaseBYCLeaders

September 21, 2014, was the day Master Rafiq Oman vanished from the life of his family and students. He was travelling from Bal Negwar to Turbat regarding the registration of his school students when he was taken by law enforcement personnel. Twelve years have now passed without his return. His family has spent these years pursuing every possible avenue to locate him, yet they remain without a definitive account of where he is or what became of him. Rafiq Oman was not only a headmaster and teacher, he was also a Balochi singer who contributed to the preservation and expression of his culture. His disappearance represents the deprivation of liberty of an educator and cultural worker without the safeguards of a transparent legal process. Twelve years without disclosure is an intolerable denial of the family’s right to truth. Rafiq Oman’s case requires a clear and lawful resolution, disclose his whereabouts, establish his fate and ensure that his rights are protected under the law. #ReleaseRafiqOman

On 21 April 2026, Dad Shah Baloch was taken from his home in Karachi and subjected to enforced disappearance. Since that day, his family has been denied the most fundamental truth, where he is and what has happened to him. Enforced disappearance is not merely the unlawful removal of an individual, it is the denial of a person’s protection before the law and the infliction of prolonged anguish upon those left behind. Dad Shah Baloch’s whereabouts must be disclosed and his legal status must be made clear. Behind every disappearance is a family forced to live with questions that should never remain unanswered. Some disappeared persons are later killed in custody or presented as victims of fake encounters, while their families are denied the truth about their final moments. In some cases, even after death, families are denied the right to see their loved ones, receive their remains or know where they were buried. This is not only the loss of a life, it is the continued denial of a family’s right to truth, mourning and dignity. Enforced disappearance, custodial killing and extrajudicial execution cannot be allowed to become substitutes for law and justice. Every person taken must be accounted for, every death must be investigated and every family must be allowed to know where their loved one rests and all disappeared persons must be released immediately or brought before a court of law. #ReleaseDadShahBaloch #EndEnforcedDisappearances

The extrajudicial killing of Ehsan Hassan, Hassan Rafiq and 20-year-old student Nadil Baloch is a brutal and devastating act. Their bodies were found together in Kuldan Gwadar after all three had disappeared earlier this year. Their families had spent months waiting, searching and hoping that their sons would return alive. Behind every dead body is a family whose life has been shattered. A mother waits for her son. A father keeps believing that his child will come home. A sister waits for the brother whose voice she has not heard for months. They live through endless uncertainty, carrying photographs, making inquiries and holding onto the hope that one day the door will open and their loved one will walk back home. Baloch parents educate their children with their hard earned sacrifices. They spend years saving for their education, sending them to schools and universities and dreaming that their children will build a dignified and better future. They do not educate their children to receive their dead bodies. They do not sacrifice their entire lives so that one day they are forced to identify their sons in a morgue. Nadil was only 20 years old. He was a student with an entire life ahead of him. Hassan and Ehsan also had families who waited for their return. Instead of celebrating their education, achievements and futures, their families are now mourning their deaths. This is the deepest cruelty inflicted upon Baloch people, first a loved one is taken away, then the family is condemned to months of unbearable waiting and finally the silence is broken by the arrival of a dead body. The pain does not end with the killing. It is transferred to the mother who will never hear her son’s footsteps again, the father who will carry the loss for the rest of his life and the sisters who will forever wait for a brother who can never return. The international community cannot remain silent as Baloch people continue to face enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and the systematic destruction of civilian lives. The killing of Hassan Rafiq, Ehsan Hassan and Nadil Baloch must not disappear into another cycle of silence and impunity. The United Nations and international human rights bodies must urgently intervene, demand accountability and take concrete action to end the ongoing persecution and killings of Baloch people. Silence in the face of such grave abuses only allows impunity to continue. #StopBalochGenocide
