It's wild how uninformed we are about our own history to the point of doubting it. While the 4,000 year dates are debated, multiple independent studies have proven a 2,000 year old iron history in Lejja. Our deep history is real and the science is solid.
The 2,000 BC date is contested. Recent reteste put the date around ~ 500 BC

I spent 90% of the youth in the US and I'm very grateful for it. In my small time in Nigeria was great as well but I remember being beaten and bulliied by a teacher for speaking English better than her, in an English class. Can't imagine doing that for 12+ years.
Other day I was laughing because someone said the CIA was trying to ruin Nigeria's youth by 'infiltrating Afrobeats'. It was funny because this is the actual reality Nigerian youths face at every junction and there's no need to make up dramatic foreign conspiracy theories.

Update on my goal of publishing 1,000 Odinani Insights articles through Oma’s Garden: sloaneangelou.blog/journal
I've gone well past 50% of the goal (500/1000), counting articles published on our blog and republished here on X.
What's interesting is that as I review the articles to convert them into audio, I've ended up deleting at least 10% of them, either because they're not good enough or because they're unrelated to Odinani, having been written when I used the blog to explore other interests.
Anyway, I've come to appreciate this process of "pruning." It's necessary, and even enjoyable, as I work towards getting the blog to where I want it to be.

While preparing to work on Flora Nwapa’s main profile for the Igbo Legends series, I thought her 1988 interview with Sabine Jell-Bahlsen, five years before her passing, would make a good companion piece.
I’ve shared my reflections on the interview in a piece titled 'Reflections From a Rare Interview With Flora Nwapa' sloaneangelou.blog/igbo-lege…
Hope you give it a read and enjoy it. On to the next!

Yes you're not wrong. That's the big challenge for American speakers, but we can understand her 100%, so she's not too far off. English is not tonal, but many African, Black American and Caribbean speakers speak it with their own rhythm and tonality anyways. So long as it works

Not quite. Igbo is a tonal language so must be spoken with an Igbo accent otherwise it won’t be properly understood
