This is now the biggest nuisance on busy #DelhiNCR streets & dangerous to boot. These motorized "thelas" are without any number plate and ply merrily without having to meet traffic rules or the short sighted anti-#pollution curbs which are in effect. @dtptraffic

Every #pollution season, the same insensitivity to ease of living comes out, adding to the #health woes of citizens in #Delhi. A solution to Delhi's #airpollution woes may not be feasible in a year, but a multi-year strategy will be reassuring. No tactical measures please!

Will capping trade margins on 137 #cancer drugs actually lower #medical bills? My recent story in @timesofindia examines the risk that #hospitals could offset lower #drug margins with higher charges for diagnostics, consumables or procedures. Lower drug prices don’t automatically mean cheaper cancer care. The move requires strict monitoring & implementation across all stakeholders. #patients #healthcare #health

Pollution season in #Delhi is here when both #air and #water will be a #health hazard. Measures should go beyond ban on construction and restricting some cars. Also, musical truck horns are a menace. @dtptraffic needs a drive to curb #noise pollution. Try Chattarpur at night.

Zee Business Exclusive: Government Mulls Raising FDI Limit from 20% to 49% * Finance Ministry prepares Draft Cabinet Note to increase the FDI limit in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) from 20% to 49%. * Comments sought from other ministries on the proposed increase through the Draft Cabinet Note. * RBI backs the proposal to raise the FDI limit in PSBs. * RBI has also recently written to the government, recommending that an increase in the FDI limit be considered at the earliest. * RBI believes a higher FDI limit could attract greater foreign investment into India. * Currently, the FDI limit is 74% in private sector banks, compared with just 20% in PSBs. * Among the 12 PSBs, SBI has the highest FDI holding at 11.07%, followed by Canara Bank at 10.55%. * The Finance Ministry and RBI did not respond to Zee Business’s emails seeking comments. @AnilSinghvi_ @ZeeBusiness @RBI @DFS_India @FinMinIndia @PMOIndia @DG_PIB

Why is Europe going through an unrest. #EuropeInChaos
What has gone wrong in Europe? Here is my take! Europe has many strengths. We Europeans are enjoying the highest living standard in the world. Asian nations are more dynamic, but we are the largest market. We have created peace between the arch enemies Germany and France. Europe could be a proud civilization in dialogue with India, China and others. But something has gone wrong. Until recently Europeans watched the Gen Z rebellions in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and other countries with interest from distance. Now the rebellions have come home - to the center of Europe - to France, Italy and Spain. What has gone wrong? How can Europe bounce back? Here are my observations: * Poor leadership. The German chancellor has an approval rate just about 10%, the French president isn't much better at 15%. UK has run through seven prime ministers in ten years, none of them evil, nearly all of them underwhelming and mediocre. A continent once led by Adenauer and Brandt, de Gaulle and Mitterrand simply need new and better leaders.  * No growth. If you want to improve schools and education, there will be less for the retired. Or vice versa. It’s very hard to develop nations when everything is a zero sum game between generations and classes. There is no visible strategy for growth. * Wrong choices. Spurred by the Russian attack on Ukraine, many European governments prioritize rearmament and support to Ukraine. There is every reason to detest Russia and Putin, but the main threat to Europe comes from within. If we destroy our societies at home we cannot meet outside pressures. It’s wrong to prioritize rearming above education, social services and the environment. * Pessimism. European leaders speak as if the continent is in an unprecedented crisis. When leaders talk down our own continent, how can anyone expect people to be confident. Pessimism in itself a destructive force and should be replaced with opportunity, dedication to change and hope. * Lack of curiosity. Europe is lagging far behind East Asia on education, innovation and quality of universities. China has overtaken Europe as the green leader and the economic engine of the world. We have a lot to learn from India. US economy is more dynamic. Still there is a lack of curiosity to other cultures. If we dont become curious, we are doomed.

Indian stock market added close to $200 billion dollars today after the H1B announcement. Most gains came from Indian IT firms. Here's what MAGA doesn't understand; H1B = America wins. No H1B = India wins. The US economy is so massive that the 70,000 American citizens that graduate in IT each year are not enough to support the booming IT sector and the talent required to win the AI race against China. If American tech companies can't hire talent in the US, they off shore it. Because there simply isn't enough talent. Nothing to do with Americans being "dumb". Americans are some of the smartest people in the world. It's everything to do with how massive the economy is. What America loses with no H1B is an individual living in the US and paying taxes. Now employees hired in India will pay taxes in India.
