This week in space science we have been incredibly busy. ADSEP is just one example of the research that flew up on SpaceX-35. This one is pharmaceutical development in a box to take advantage of microgravity for drug production!

CMSA is offering a free ride for active scientific payloads aboard the uncrewed test flight of the Lanyue lunar lander ahead of crewed Moon landing before 2030. Allocation is capped at 50 kg in total mass and 100 W in power draw, with zero launch fees charged to selected teams. Proposals are open to domestic universities, research institutes, and commercial firms through March 1, 2027.

Today, we remember ASE member Donald Peterson on his #birthday. Peterson flew to space in 1983 aboard STS-6. ✨
Just saw the opening of an episode of Canada's SCTV. Reminded me that we lived across the road from this building, we were there when the TV flew off the balcony. My mom went on a date with John Candy back then. We also got to meet the entire crew of the first season.

Feel the Power of an RS‑25 Hot Fire Test! 🔥
We successfully tested RS-25 engine No. 10001 on Oct. 21 on the Fred Haise Test Stand at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
The main objectives of the test were to acceptance test RS-25 flight components for future @NASAArtemis missions and validate the new thermal protection system, which protects the RS-25 engine nozzle from the thermal environment surrounding NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket during launch.
While this developmental engine will not be used in flight, the hot fire test provides NASA and NASA's prime engine contractor @L3HarrisTech with the capability to capture critical data to improve engine performance and reliability.

At a recent Coffee4Vets meeting, I had the honor of presenting 10 military medals and ribbons posthumously honoring decorated Army veteran Dennis Bartash to his daughter, Jennifer Bartash. I was also able to give her a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and a certificate in recognition of her father’s service.
It was a beautiful ceremony and one I am grateful to have been a part of. Thanks as always to Juan Blanco and Coffee4Vets for making these events possible.

One of my favorite places to work on @Space_Station is the Life Sciences Glovebox, where we get to be the hands and eyes of scientists on the ground. Here, I’m helping with an experiment called InSPA-Auxilium Bioprinter-Cell Printing, which leverages the microgravity environment of ISS to 3D print cells and manufacture human liver, kidney, and cartilage tissue. Just one of many examples of how we’re using this amazing orbital national laboratory to reshape our understanding of biology, medicine, and engineering, and improve life on Earth!
