The very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world

Impressive for Lisa Nandy to put her foot in it so badly she’s fending off two separate accusations of disrespecting the war dead on Remembrance Sunday

Lisa Nandy complains about the Tories politicising Remembrance Sunday... And then immediately politicises Remembrance Sunday herself by saying the WW2 generation sacrificed themselves for the EU's Erasmus+ scheme These people have no shame whatsoever

On Remembrance Sunday Lisa Nandy has claimed that no one in Britain has had to fight a war since WW2. What about the 7,193 British soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in conflicts ranging from the Korean War to Afghanistan? While she erases their service, the country will never forget their bravery. Remembrance Sunday is a sacred day, not to be cynically used by Labour to justify closer ties to the EU. Whatever the merits of their argument - and I believe reopening the Brexit wars is both a colossal waste of energy and a strategic disaster when national sovereignty is more important than ever - this is not the day for it. It’s disappointing that Nandy and Andy Burnham, who presumably agreed to this, have failed so badly to meet the moment.

#wewillrememberthem Thinking of Harry, Ken Hay and many more today. Treasure them while we can
This is devastating news. Harry was so full of life. I will never forget him dancing at the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Arromanches, and I won’t be alone

The thing is though Jonesy, for years you’ve played guilt by association with people you dislike. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Rapist’s mate Jones.

Live cross examination was always a great way of testing the truth. Sadly even that principle has been lost in Scotland index cases. We now have a special class of witness and they also get the questions in advance.
Scotland likes to congratulate itself on its commitment to justice, equality and human rights. But what happens when the institutions entrusted with protecting those principles become so consumed by an ideological agenda that they begin to abandon them? I’ve written about the erosion of fair trial safeguards, the presumption of innocence and the growing reluctance to challenge Scotland’s justice system. edgraham100.substack.com/p/t…

Over a 100 witnesses were spoken to. Your idea that a few women just wandered in to a police station and now he faces a jail term, is incorrect.

On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault. I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking. She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police. 🧵:

This Story Will Make Your Blood Boil. 😡 Duncan called into Jeremy Vine to talk about benefits. He’s 56, paid into the system since he was 18, and recently had to take six months off work after being diagnosed with cancer and needed help. He was refused. He got nothing. No help at all. He’s now back at work while still fighting cancer, and he wants to know why. He says what’s the point of the system if it isn’t there when you actually need it? Jeremy actually asked a decent question for once: if he’s paid tax all his life, why isn’t he at the front of the queue to reclaim his own money when he runs into trouble? Why does the system seem to prefer people who have never paid any tax at all? Good question. Somebody should be made to answer it. The welfare bill is bigger than ever, anyone and everyone seems to be claiming. Strangers turn up in boats and get given everything for free, yet a man who has worked all his life, paid into the system, and is genuinely ill gets turned down when he needs help. How is that fair? It’s not. It’s a disgrace!

Fact for the weekend 42% of all the prime ministers we have had since the end of the First World War will be standing by the Cenotaph this Sunday

NEW: An arrest has been reported in Florida by the FBI at the care home where Thomas Markle Snr had been living. It is in additional to the police investigation in The Philippines into material found at Mr Markle's home there. And the sharing by London's Metropolitan Police of the letter Meghan was sent in 2019 by her father's first wife, Roslyn - which led to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex cutting off all ties wth Thomas Markle to "protect" their children.

In 2008, Russell Brand publicly humiliated Andrew Sachs and his granddaughter, Georgina Baillie. His behaviour was so disgraceful that he was suspended by the BBC and then resigned. Yet by 2015, Ed Miliband was courting him. His character and treatment of women were hardly a secret. I found Brand repellent at the time. Perhaps that reflected my un-unfashionable bourgeois values. 🤷‍♂️ But what I want to know is what on earth did Ed Miliband and others find so attractive at the time? And what did their willingness to overlook Brand’s behaviour say about their own moral judgement and credibility?

So many people in television, film and publishing were willing to look the other way to protect Russell Brand And what cultural gems did we get as a consequence? The Booky Wook, Big Brother's Big Mouth and the remake of Arthur
