This is a good day for crypto in South Africa. 🇿🇦
Thousands of comments and Treasury is rethinking its approach.
A good reminder of what happens when an industry stands together.

There have, of course, been times in human history that were even darker and more terrible. But never, it seems, have there been times so despicable and, above all, so stupid.

The first 5 years is always the most difficult part of launching a 3 day Special Military Operation.
The Roadster launch was an incredible display of innovation. Nobody is credibly denying that. It was also dishonest. To prove otherwise Tesla could do two simple things:
1. Repeat the same exact demonstrations with a human driver / passenger onboard. Show us it kick-flipping with Elon in the driver’s seat.
2. Challenge Porsche to a race in the next few months. Roadster with cold thrusters versus Mission S, which was announced on the same day.
Should be easy right?

Solid now works in Rands.
Ask for moola in any chat. They pay from the wallet they already use, and it lands in yours as ZARP, the Rand on Solana.
Braai, side hustle, spaza shop. No card machine taking a cut. No “I’ll EFT you tonight.”
Who still owes you from the last braai?

Gee... whoever could be behind the disinformation and disruption campaign targeting France? What a mystery.

This.
South African standards for Web3 events are so low and we just keep accepting it.
I’ve decided to stop complaining and actually do something about it.
And no, this isn’t aimed at every event. Some of the international events that come to our country are fantastic.
But locally, we need to have a serious conversation about how we treat sponsors, what we deliver in return and why putting in the bare minimum while extracting the maximum has become acceptable.
Even the basics. Marketing, understanding social media, creating value for sponsors and giving people an experience worth showing up for.
We cannot keep expecting companies to pour money into our ecosystem while giving them so little in return.
We need to come right. South Africa deserves better, and so do the people investing in this space.
The Tesla Roadster demo today was incredibly impressive, until it's placed in context. @aprajitanefes sums it up better than I could 👇
IT'S A STUNT, NOT A CAR. AND THE STUNT HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR NINE YEARS.
The Tesla Roadster was first unveiled in 2017. Musk promised production in 2020. It's now 2026. No production car exists. No customer has ever received one. The dates have slipped from 2020 to 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and now 2028, a full decade of broken promises.
This is not a car launch. This is a magic trick, and you're watching the misdirection.
THE UPSIDE-DOWN DEMO IS BORROWED PHYSICS, NOT A BREAKTHROUGH.
The fan-suction system that let the Roadster cling to a vertical ramp? That technology already exists. The McMurtry Spéirling, a British electric track car has been driving upside down since 2022 using the exact same principle: fans that suck air from under the car to generate downforce at zero speed.
The difference? McMurtry is honest about what it is. The Spéirling is explicitly not road legal. It's a track toy. McMurtry says so publicly.
Tesla, by contrast, put a Roadster on a ramp, made it fly, and let the audience believe this is a production car. Musk said on stage: "This will be an actual car that's on the roads" and then Tesla later admitted it would not be road legal.
THE DEPOSITS ARE THE REAL PRODUCT.
Tesla is taking $50,000 deposits for the "Performance" version and $250,000 deposits for the "Thrust" version. The "Rocket" version the one that actually flies is invite only and will likely never be street legal.
Think about that. People are handing over a quarter of a million dollars for a car that doesn't exist, won't be delivered until 2028 at the earliest, and can't legally be driven on public roads. This is not a reservation system. It's an interest-free loan from fans to a company that has missed every deadline it has ever set.
THE 0.81 SECOND NUMBER IS A DEMO, NOT A SPEC.
The 0.81-second 0-60 time was recorded on a test pad during a live event, not independently verified, not on a production car, and not on a public road. It's a number that exists to generate headlines and stock movement, not to describe a product you can buy.
THE PATTERN IS THE PROOF.
This is not the first time. Musk has a documented history of dangling technological carrots promising products, setting dates, watching the stock rise, and then missing every deadline. The robotaxi announcement in January 2026, timed perfectly before earnings, is the same playbook: a stunt to distract from falling sales.
The Roadster reveal is not about the car. It's about:
◾ Generating headlines to distract from Tesla's declining EV sales
◾ Extracting deposits from true believers to fund operations
◾ Pumping the stock for Musk's compensation package and shareholder confidence
◾ Keeping the myth alive that Tesla is still a growth company
THE BOTTOM LINE.
The upside-down Roadster is a demonstration vehicle. It is not a production car. It may never be a production car. The technology fan downforce is borrowed from an existing track car that is honest about its limitations. The 0.81-second time is a marketing claim, not a verified spec. The deposits are real money for a product that doesn't exist.
Musk is not selling a car. He is selling a story. And the story is worth billions in stock valuation, even if the car never arrives.
You wanna know what "upside down" is. It's the Tesla Roadster itself: a product that has been inverted from reality for nine years, propped up by hype, deposits, and a fanbase that wants to believe. The car is upside down. So is the truth.
This is the plain truth. The owner of this website and the president of the United States have recently said and done things that only make sense if they are under existential threat from Russia. America must act, and now.
