ZERO commercial tungsten mining in America since 2015. Obama. Trump. Biden. Trump again. Not one mine. Tungsten is what cutting tools are made of. No tungsten, no machining. It's wired inside nearly every computer chip too. The Pentagon finally wrote the check last month. The mine won't ship ore for more than a year. Who advises our government on manufacturing? They clearly have never worked in manufacturing.
There has been no commercial tungsten mining in the US since 2015. China accounted for 79% of global tungsten mine production last year, according to USGS. Now the US Army has given Perpetua Resources a $40 million, 36-month award to evaluate tungsten production at Stibnite in Idaho, the company said. The Stibnite district supplied roughly half of the tungsten the US used during World War II. Drilling at the Hangar Flats deposit underpins the award, with intercepts including 9.8 meters grading 4.6% tungsten and 8.3% antimony. Total US government awards to Perpetua for critical minerals now stand at $126 million since 2022. @Perpetua_Idaho Source: Perpetua Resources, USGS

Many left wing Brazilians recently began tweeting about how they wanted to emulate China as a ‘successful left wing country’. IE they wanted to copy Chinese policies to ‘fix’ Brazil but left-ishly. Chinese users soon pointed out many Chinese policies are to the right of Bolsonaro
Many Lula supporters say they want Brazil to adopt China's economic model. To achieve that, Brazil would need to cut social spending and pensions by 50% and cut government spending by 30%. It would need someone much more right-wing than Bolsonaro on economics.

Imagine being 16 years old and your grandpa takes you on a months long adventure to secure military support for an insurrection and to fuck every woman encountered in the process.

I have bad news for everyone prattling on about Vivek Ramaswamy being Indian. He isn't. Vivek is a Natural-Born American of Indian Extraction. Feel free to cry about it. I'm sorry the Constitution happened to you.

In an increasingly globalised world it isn’t enough to be causally anti-migration if you want to avoid demographic change, it has to be consciously de-incentivised with extremely strict controls. There are billions in the global south who will take advantage of any slight opening
Every country which is not very explicitly and strongly anti-migration, will become a country of mass migration. Now that even the authoritarian strongholds of Europe, Belarus etc. are embracing migration, I predict even North Korea will open up surprisingly soon.

BREAKING: Bukele announces that El Salvador is launching a military operation in Haiti against the gangs. The goal is to free 4 Salvadoran citizens kidnapped by the Haitian gangs. Bukele threatens that El Salvador will eradicate the Haitian gangs if they hurt the kidnapped men: “To the gang leaders and gang members holding our four compatriots hostage in Haiti: Our kidnapped men are not combatants. They are aviation technicians who are part of our mission in Haiti, within the framework of an international mission. Our mission consists only of pilots and technical personnel, whose primary job is to carry out medical evacuations and save lives, not to wage war. However, they were kidnapped in a cowardly manner while returning after buying food at a market in the area. That is why, today, we have launched a military operation to rescue them. We have a single objective: to bring our four compatriots back home alive, without any harm. However, I want you, the gang leaders, to understand one thing very clearly: today's attack is nothing compared to what is coming if we do not get all four hostages back alive. And do not take our word for empty threats. We have already finished with the gangs in El Salvador, and we can finish with you too. We still have time to avoid this. Return our four compatriots to us alive, without any harm, and everything will go back to how it was before the kidnapping. The decision is in your hands”

One rather subtle thing about Christian societies, shared by culturally Christian secular and even anti-Christian types, which is very Christian in origin and tone, is the rejection of extrinsic humiliation of the sort Vivek imagined this hit piece would achieve.

Unfortunately, Bioware really only had 3 distinct options going forward. (I am probably not the first person to make this joke)

I'm going to expand again on this. Mass Effect literally had the potential to make Star Wars/Star Trek levels of money. What they created with ME1 and ME2 was an elevation of gaming to a level of art form not previously accomplished on the PC side of digital gaming. ME3 was their conscious decision to tell their fanbase: "No, we don't want to do that." Similarly Dragon Age: Origins was a shot across the bow for the Dungeons and Dragons franchise. Luckily for them, BioWare decided to destroy that momentum immediately with its sequel, and things just got progressively (hah!) worse from there. If there was such a thing as artistic malpractice, BioWare would have been convicted of it ages ago.
I want to expand on this, because for BioWare's original games: I was the target demographic. Baldur's Gate, NWN, KOTOR, ME, DAO were all games that managed to target in my soul what I wanted from a game. And one by one they killed each of them. Not with a bang, but with the steady decay of the core mechanics and plots. Well except for KOTOR. That one they just set on fire on the way out, and left modders to pick up the pieces. Eventually they would release a game, and I'd look at it, think back on what was, and say... "No. I don't think I will buy that." Literally all they had to do is hit the rewind button and say "You know that thing that made money that gamers wanted? Let's make that!" They refused.

Remember: the historical standard is for overly complex societies to hit a crisis where they seize up and have to revert to a less complex state to solve said crisis.
Security called me at 6:12 AM today. "Patch every PHP server immediately." I asked what happened. "Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required." Cool. How many PHP servers do we have? According to inventory: 12 According to reality: Nobody knows. We found one running WordPress. Three running old internal tools. One under someone's desk. Two inside vendor appliances. A forgotten employee directory from 2016. And a server named: PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH Naturally, that one runs payroll exports. Then we found a PHP 5.6 box. I asked who owned it. The documentation said: BRIAN. Brian left in 2019. We called Brian. He said: "Oh wow, that's still running?" Excellent. By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call. CEO: "Can hackers actually get in?" Security: "Potentially yes." CEO: "Without a password?" Security: "Yes." CEO: "Then why do WE need passwords?" Not the lesson. Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue. Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers. Finance asked for a cost comparison. At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline. Marketing refused. "Our campaign is live." So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover. We finally patched everything we could find. Then our scanner discovered another PHP server. Hostname: TEMP-PHP-2014 Uptime: 4,512 days. Nobody knows what it does. Nobody owns it. Nobody can shut it down. But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels. Security has classified it as critical infrastructure. It is running PHP 5.4. The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees. The emergency patch took four hours. Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven. The internet isn't held together with code. It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.

The average Chinese person is more right wing than Le Pen on race and migration. Here we have a French socialist (OP is a Mélenchon voter) getting triggered by a CCP spokesman who said it is sad that France is 'turning into a third world country'. OP is a successful French entrepreneur and a huge Sinophile. It's funny to me how the group of Westerners who support China the most are liberals and socialists. When China is much more socially right wing than Europe's 'far right' politicians and much lower tax than Reagan and Trump. Western socialists who support China are like Democrats who moved to Florida during covid but kept on voting for Biden. They enjoy the fruits of conservatism but refuse to acknowledge nor support it. They don't realize a large part to the success of China is an ethnically homogeneous high IQ society where the leadership is almost entirely men. Socially very conservative and fiscally very low tax - the opposite of the likes of Mélenchon.

This is painfully visible in DC. Part of it is emulation of the leader (i.e., reality TV president means you get reality TV grifters), but much of it is just a matter of raw numbers, lack of new talent pipelines, disinterest in niche specialization.
Fundamentally the Right has a human capital problem. There should be enough people who are both competent and loyal. But there aren’t.

It’s especially visible in foreign policy. This requires proper education (often specialized top tier university programs), being cosmopolitan but also right wing, foreign language/culture mastery, can write well, and is publicly presentable (very important honestly).

We have a stupidly shallow bench. For example, there’s no serious foreign policy pipeline for Trump/MAGA though. Closest organization is the Ben Franklin Fellowship, and its majority boomers/Gen X who still fixate on DEI and having been passed over under libs.
