Imagine you’re 48 with a wife and 3 kids You have $4,500,000 between a taxable account, IRA’s and a 401(k) You go into work one day and your boss tells you that you need to start picking up your performance How would you react? Now imagine if you had the same situation come up but you only had $8,000 in an emergency fund with absolutely no retirement savings See the difference?

Now imagine if instead of them talking to you about your performance it was notifying you of a layoff How different would the drive home be for person A vs person B?

Buying my car in cash at 22 and driving it until 32 (and still going) is the single best financial decision I ever made

Fun rundown of the cars I’ve had:
My car ownership history: -Bought $5,000 car in cash when I got my license (had some luck here because I had money from a settlement from acrash when I was kid) Drove that car until it wouldn’t run any more -Bought a $200 car that someone was selling in their front yard when I graduated college Drove that thing until I saved up enough cash to buy a 3 year old used car outright -Bought a $11,500 car in April 2017 and still drive it to this day Since I got that car at the same time as my first “real job” I always joked that I want to keep it until I retire early but I think I’ll upgrade in the next 12-24 months and buy a nicer car… in cash of course

Nothing will change with my strategy no matter what, but I am excited for this weeks earnings Strong earnings from companies like $V, $MSFT and $GOOG and I will feel like early retirement is right around the corner Horrible earnings and I will probably get to add to my index funds at a discount I'm going to win no matter what, but I'm excited to see how I'm going to win
Earnings this week is ABSOLUTELY LOADED. The movie starts NOW. 🍿

JUST IN: 🇺🇸🇮🇷 President Trump says high gas prices are a "small price to pay" for the Iran war. "I thought gas would be double and triple."

I don't like: -Being stuck at a desk from 8-5 -Doing it 5 days in a row every single week -Getting nothing out of out performing peers -Dealing with everyone -Doing busy work
Does anyone actually like their job anymore? I feel like I’m alone in actually enjoying what I do.

This might be the most accurate thing I’ve ever read As a 32 year old I admittedly need to shut up more
Every career goes something like this: 22-26: You think everyone above you sucks 26-31: You're mad your friends make more than you 31-36: You're finally as good as you think you are and flaunt it way too much 36-41: You realize how much you don't know 41+: You finally learn to stf up and listen If you’re still in your 20s and 30s, try to skip a few steps… I wish I did.

A 25 year old has 10 years that will determine if they are person A or person B from this example It really shows why it is important to take advantage of that decade
We are both 35 years old I have $0 and you have $200,000 Moving forward you invest $0 and I start investing $1,000 a month every single month We each get a 8% average return I will never catch up to you

The person with the $200k is well on their way to compounding doing a lot of the heavy lifting even with index funds Another strong decade and they will be in a good spot
An 8% return on a $650,000 portfolio would return $1,000 every week on average You can’t convince me that index fund investing is boring

This is why I tried so hard to set myself up well in my 20’s
In 2021 I was 27 years old Had my own apartment Made $16/hr Didn't work any over time Still saved over 20% of my income (including a 5% match) One advantage I did have is that my car was already paid off I'm telling you, it all comes down to mindsets

Hey @grok, how much would I have to invest each month from age 35 until 60 to catch up to the other person in this scenario
We are both 35 years old I have $0 and you have $200,000 Moving forward you invest $0 and I start investing $1,000 a month every single month We each get a 8% average return I will never catch up to you

He’s right 2 years of “trading” for 4 hours a day is enough time to lose most of your starting capital
All it takes is 2 years of fully dedicating yourself to trading to change your life forever But by “dedicating” I don’t mean 1-2 hours a day, that’s childs play

I couldn't be more against red light cameras or speed cameras There is no way they make the roads safer. It is just a cash grab and some of these fines could be life changing for someone, especially someone who has a long daily commute
JUST IN: Los Angeles to begin activating 125 AI-powered speed cameras Monday, with violators facing fines of up to $500.

Something I haven't shared on here is how much I HATE being called Seb in real life lol Usually, I hate any nickname people give me and just want to be Sebastian lol I only used Seb in my user name because of the number of characters, but it has started growing on me and doesn't bother me as much IRL These are the little wins from posting on here

In October 2020 I kind of did something similar Woke up one day and just knew it was time for something new so I quit Ended up getting a job in a grocery store a few weeks later and it all worked out! Definitely a different job market now and my net worth was equal to 5x my liquid net worth, but what I learned was to always put yourself in a position where you can make decisions like this when needed
A few years ago, a friend of mine went to work like any normal day A few hours in she said to herself, "F**k this" She walked into her boss's office, said "I quit" and walked out Almost everyone dreams of that moment Most will never take it
