I haven't always been in the "play a billion games" camp when it comes to it being the best way to improve at pokemon, but this format I'm in it. Currently there's a really high amount of variance in the game - not in a sense that the format is overly luck based, but you need a much much larger sample size of games to discover what is "normal" to happen in a matchup, and to see all of the reasonable possibilities. In the past, you might have a few key patterns: did a player miss an energy/attack early, did they take the first prize/2 prizes, etc. You could reasonably cover a lot of these in 10 games. Now, especially with budew/stamp, there are way more ways games can go. Not only do we need to play enough games to see these, but we also need to play enough to understand roughly how often they do occur, even more so if we're trying to deck build. Not easily done! If two players each play 5 games against dragapult. One of them gets stamped t2 every game, the other never does. Would they both play the same way in the matchup in the 6th game?
