I like how everyone is trying to use this as a gotcha to support their drives. but one of the things they say is to upload YOUR fan works. Which none of these people are doing. They're posting other's fan works.

Actually, do not delete your fics when the archive comes back on. Private them but don't take them off the site. Once deleted it becomes infinitely more difficult to prove authorship and thus more difficult to protect against scrapers, thieves, plagiarizers and the like

Ironically, PART of why VoxVal has probably been able to last as long as they have is bcuz Val is REALLY good at showing what he wants without words, with Vox happy to give & go beyond.
But there comes a point where words are necessary & they never quite figured that part out.

All the "what does ao3 even do with the money" ppl finding out you can't just shove a ton of stuff on to a free or basic individual drives and expect companies to allow you to have that much traffic
As someone in the boot community those drives are probably getting shut down not because anyone reported it. But because you made a public drive that probably got over a million hits in 24 hours. That's obviously going to flag it to Google you absolute potatoes😭
I went through the early fic site purges. That's part of why I like backing things up. So I do agree with ppl who feel that way.
But aside from personal use it would be used to help if we LOST ao3. Not because ao3 went down for a while. We aren't trying to save 1/3
Or rebuild a Fandom right now. The situation is not bad enough to throw out basic etiquette of checking authors feelings on things being uploaded by ppl other than them. No one is respecting locked fics or fics tagged to not be reposted. 2/3
