God I hate this 'who created eggs nonsense’ . Let's see how many chickens we have without eggs etc (ad nauseam)…
God I hate this 'people who create wealth' nonsense. Let's see how much wealth we have in a society without teachers, nurses etc......

A de facto Government bill pretending to be a PMB. A rigged witness list. Sponsor had to be embarrassed to include disability charities and the royal college of Psychs. Two “neutral” ministers on committee who always voted with her. Open contempt for eating disorder experts, complete failure to understand mental capacity experts, promising the house the “gold standard” of a high court judge then junking it and calling it “judge plus”. A process in the bill geared to death on demand with no questions asked with the jurisdiction of the coroner ousted and no appeal from a “yes” decision from the new death panels. A complete rewrite of the NHS constitution, private providers permitted to provide suicide for profit and a threat from Kit Malthouse to defund hospices who refused to entertain this ghoul show. And those are just the highlights from this whole ghastly process and campaign. So far as Kim’s introspection and self reflection goes, it has the depth of a modest avoidable puddle.
I have reflected at length about what happened in Parliament on Friday. Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with their heartbreaking personal stories and campaigned on this issue for far too long. I am so sorry. Please see my statement below. Many thanks, Kim

At least for the time-being the glasses and beer mats have the old Timothy Taylor logo.

As the new school term begins, we're helping keep costs down. We’re putting limits on branded uniforms - helping give families a little more breathing space this school year.

It’s like being in the final scenes of Quatermass IV on our local heath. Many have turned out for the end of days.

A crazy decision from council officials, hopefully it can be overturned Live music venues especially smaller ones are essential especially for new bands & artists starting out This would be a loss to Reigate
The owners of a live music venue in Reigate forced to cancel all gigs over a noise complaint say performances help sustain the business through the quiet winter months. More here: bbc.in/4g7t4BE

Burnham allowing councils to refuse permission to vape shops will get lots of cheering from the gallery. There'll be reminders that thousands of pubs and shops closed and now town centres are filled with garish sweet shops, vape sellers and adult gaming. All we'll be told because councils can't block these shops. The outcome won't be better high streets or nicer town centres. Officious councils will go back to making aesthetic judgements about shop fronts, to banning shutters and trying to control what people are able to sell to you. The decline of your high street isn't the fault of government. It is your fault. You did it. Your mum and dad did it. For sure the government hates pubs and would prefer the remining few didn't sell alcohol but those other shops went because you preferred the convenience of the supermarket, the range of the big box store, the sprawling mall with free parking. And then you fired the last bullets into the Hugh streets and town centres by using your phone, sat snugly on your sofa, to order groceries and knick-knacks, all the things there was once a shop for on your High Street for. It was you. You killed the high street. Nobody else. But you'll cheer as councils get to make vape shops have better signage and dark places filled with slot machines get banned. Instead there'll be more boarded up shops, more old retailers limping towards a sad retirement. We'll get attempts to save the high street by the council paying to create a "community hub" or a "culture centre" that quickly becomes a set of cheap meeting rooms nobody uses with a bad café that's only sustained by its managers holding out a begging bowl. If you want a better high street or a thriving town centre, the only thing that will make this change is you spending your money in your high street. And that isn't going to happen because you get more choice at a better price from that black rectangle in your pocket or handbag. It is your fault.
