Barnier has actually made the point that Britain would NOT have to join the euro or Schengen if it rejoins the EU, but the BBC failed to mention that - focusing instead on his unsurprising point that the single market cannot be cherry picked. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9kg…

😡 Growth comparison with France/Germany is another Brexit trick to deceive people. 👀 A pub owner can blow up their own business, keep trading from the ruins and point to takings that beat the pub next door. That still doesn’t tell us what the business would have earned if they hadn’t wrecked it. 🔥 Comparing the UK’s growth with France’s doesn’t measure Brexit’s cost. The question is what Britain could have achieved without the damage Brexit did to trade, investment and productivity.

The fact that the UK has performed better than France since Brexit suggests that remainers need to provide real evidence, not spurious economic forecasts, that brexit has materially damaged the UK. Over to you!

Restoring freedom of movement doesn't have to take years. We could have our rights back in six months or less if the UK government made it a priority and reached an agreement with the EU. independent.co.uk/news/uk/ho…

After the Empire collapsed, Britain understood that it could no longer stand alone. Europe gave us the economic support to feed and power the country, and the Single Market made trade easier through shared standards and rules. Brexit ripped away those prosthetics. Now, in a world dominated by power blocs, we’re bleeding influence and resilience. The American model is no substitute for a strong European partnership. And if Trump and Putin are helping to weaken Europe, that makes rebuilding our ties with it more urgent, not less. So the question ALL patriots need to answer is how Britain survives if we refuse to stand with our neighbours.

Can you be honest, Liz? Is there ANY price you wouldn’t pay to rejoin the EU?

This is the pathetic desperation coming from Reform. They believe they are entitled to the seat and despite being destroyed in a poor third with a vote near to the 20% average polling suggests - it was fixed......
Reform UK’s @PooleReformUK lost bigly yesterday, so they’ve made an unfounded claim that there was “vote fixing”. Vote fixing. In a local council election. They’ve of course provided no evidence. @electoralreform and @reformparty_uk must investigate this claim. (Note: They lost so bad they couldn’t even claim Restore took votes from them).

Simon Schama is bang on the money in today’s FT: liberal democracy is back in business. Trumpism in the US, Orban in Hungary, Vučić in Serbia have all been swept aside. In Israel, nearly 60 per cent of voters repudiated Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

I see Telegraph Columnist and GB News presenter has jumped on the "Yeah well, Andy Burnham supported Brand" bandwagon... ...while remaining completely silent about her own colleague's support 🙄 Quick🧵 on the context of that tweet! 1/19

I wrote this post just over a year ago when I discovered that Farage had failed to declare any outside income for five months. We're in an identical position now, one year later. The last declaration in his Register of Interests is from the 20th of April — six months ago. Those three declarations covered his, at the time, recent buy in to Kwasi Kwarteng's crypto platform, Slack BTC and a donation of £1,749 from entrepreneur, Avi Lasarow. In 2025 the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Daniel Greenberg, established that Farage had failed to register 17 interests within the required 28-day deadline. Why is he now pulling the same trick? Does Farage truly believe himself to be above the law and outside of the rules of his employment?
Farage is not declaring his income. Why has Farage not been declaring his private security on his Register of Interests? There is no declaration of a gift or donation of private security. The article says it costs £1 MILLION per year for this security, but nothing has been declared. MPs have 28 days in which to register any financial donations on their Parliamentary register, but Farage's last entry to the Register was actually back in May. So we're being led to believe that the man, who earns a million pounds a year from his outside work, just stopped earning in May? This stinks. His most recent declaration was on 31st May 2025 for £26,817.60 for 12 hours of work at GB News. That's £2,234.80 per hour, by the way. Man of the people, my behind! But the more pressing matter is, what happened to his earnings since May? Is this hubris? Is he trying to get caught out to launch another 'woe is me, everyone hates me' campaign? Diligent Lee Anderson has declarations coming in on the 8th of September, like a good boy. Farage has just halted his declarations. So what are we to take from this? Unclear. But what is clear-cut, is that somebody in Parliament/the media should have spotted this and be investigating. It's a potentially very serious breach of the Code of Conduct and could/should lead to a suspension. Also, I find it strange that @Telegraph had un-paywalled this article. I assume it has been paid for by Reform. telegraph.co.uk/gift/57099cf…

On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault. I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking. She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police. 🧵:

Still extraordinary that an utter conman managed to become US President - or that his UK equivalent, Farage, was touted by the media as a potential British Prime Minister.
