One of the reasons why good people in India gets exhausted after a while and give up.
I started Zomato with a spirit of service. Blinkit Ambulance is what that spirit of service looks like today.
In the last 2 years, we have served ~20,000 emergency cases (~42,000 cases in total). We haven't charged a single rupee for any of them. And we want to keep it that way.
With everything free, a growing share of bookings are for routine checkups, hospital visits and hospital-to-home transfers, trips that an Uber or private transport could have handled just as easily. Every such booking keeps a fully equipped emergency ambulance with paramedics off the road when someone's life may depend on it.
So we are making a change from now onwards: Emergency transfers – free, as always. Non-emergency transfers – ₹2,500, charged after the trip. Broadly in line with what private ambulances charge. This money goes to Eternal Foundation, which runs these ambulances and will help us scale them even further.
We hope that this charge will dramatically drop the usage of our Ambulances for non-emergency cases. 10-minute ambulances have saved and can save thousands of lives, and we need to keep them available for emergencies that need them the most.
One more thing. Scaling high quality ambulances is hard. The biggest bottleneck is trained, empathic paramedics. Our training academy is scaling as fast as we can without compromising on quality, and @albinder and team are committed to bringing Blinkit Ambulance to all major cities in India in the next 2-4 years.
Stay well, and I pray you don't need us. @sparsh_sehgal – I wish your grandma a speedy recovery, and I am so glad we were able to be there on time.

Post-2010, the world witnessed a renewed fascination with strongman politics. People were persuaded to believe that democracy was slowing down progress and that one powerful leader could solve all their problems.
They placed their faith in leaders who considered themselves bigger than institutions and promised national greatness, prosperity and global dominance. Instead, what followed was the erosion of democratic institutions, repression of rights, wars and economic turmoil.
Recent political trends suggest that this faith in strongman politics is beginning to unravel. People are realising that concentrating power in one individual who claims to be strong does not necessarily make a nation stronger. They are rediscovering the value of democratic freedoms, accountability and the institutions they once took for granted.
More importantly, they are beginning to question what national greatness really means. Before promises of global dominance, people want something far more fundamental: economic stability, an affordable cost of living, and accountability from those in power.

Every decision taken by Gyanesh Kumar has now been reversed. But reversing those decisions raises an even bigger question: If his actions were serious enough to warrant reversal, shouldn't there be consequences for the man responsible?
And more importantly, what if @RitikaChopra__ had never exposed this? What if there had been no public outrage? Would these decisions have ever been reversed?
How many such decisions go unquestioned simply because nobody exposes them?

In the Panchkula school attack, a 3rd Grade boy lured a 6-year-old KG girl upstairs by saying her father was waiting. He slammed her head on the desk, kicked her, and kept hitting her with stones, bricks and a flowerpot even after she fell unconscious and dragged her across the floor. CCTV captured the entire 8-year-old boy attack on the special-needs girl. No teacher intervened. This raises a serious question about school safety — how can a 6-year-old KG girl be beaten so brutally inside a school with no one watching?

For regressive forces like the RSS-BJP solidarity beyond communalism is an incomprehensible concept, hence, they've now resorted once again to the old tactic of circulating doctored videos and manufacturing outrage around it.
A video of mine is being circulated out of context by the Sangh IT Cell as me extending solidarity to regressive forces in Bangladesh, ironically by the most regressive communalists of our own country.
We stand with the oppressed fighting for democracy, human rights and against religious fundamentalism.
You attack us with lies because you are afraid of our movement for voter rights and democracy. You fear that the people of the country know the truth about SIR, Gyanesh Kumar and how you use both to disenfranchise 13 crore people!

The rule of law exists to ensure that the rights of citizens even with no special status or power except the status of being citizens of a democratic country are not trampled over.
The rule of law cannot & should not in itself become a weapon in the hands of the state to silence dissenting voices that it prefers not to hear.
The continued JC of @SauravDassss & @AshutoshRanka sets a dangerous precedence.
We must speak now! Refuse to accept the weaponisation of the rule of law against our democracy!

Not a political tweet, just personal one.
I didn't know @SauravDassss at all before June. But just 2 months of working with him, and he's such a darling! Proper younger brother energy. He can irritate you to no end and then laugh it off as if like nothing happened.
During the July protests, when Delhi police were tightening surveillance - I'd joke that I wouldn't last more than 2 days in Jail. He'd say he wouldn't even last 1.
And cut to today, there he is. The same boy, just a 27 year old - facing the full might of Indian republic. They're trying their best to break his spirits I'm sure. And all of this just because he chose to raise his voice for a fairer democracy.

"New Anthem for Protesters"

Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka will come out of jail, eventually.
When they'll come out, they will be taller and more determined.
More patient, more reflective with greater resilience.
Will have heightened sense of purpose and moral weight of adversity.
It's baptism by fire.

A few years ago, Ashu had a high-paying corporate job in London, earning millions. Saurav was writing about the country’s legal system and living a great life. Both had successful careers, financial security and every reason to continue living the lives they had built for themselves.
But they chose to give it all up in the hope of making this country a better place. They had absolutely no reason to leave behind their comfortable lives, take to the streets, face uncertainty and eventually end up in jail. Yet they did.
What I admire most about these two is that despite coming from privileged backgrounds, they chose to fight for those who aren’t as fortunate. They could have easily looked the other way, enjoyed their lives and never bothered about the struggles of people they had never even met. Nobody asked them to make these sacrifices. Nobody expected them to. But they did, because they genuinely care about people beyond themselves.
And to me, that is the greatest quality a human being can have. To stand up for people you don’t know, to fight battles that aren’t your own, and to risk everything you have so that someone else might have a better life.
That’s the kind of people Ashu and Saurav are.
