Out now in @MolecularCell: Cyanobacterial Argonautes and Cas4 family nucleases cooperate to interfere with invading DNA

Most long-A pAgos interfere with invading DNA solo. Why then are cyanobacterial pAgos co-encoded with a Cas4-like protein?

🔥New paper! 🔥
Distribution of bacterial DNA repair proteins and their co-occurrence with immune systems (cell.com/cell-reports/fullte…)
It started with a simple question: Are certain prokaryotic immune systems always (or never) encoded with specific DNA repair proteins?...

i often meet a lot of founders in biology pursuing really crazy, revolutionary ideas. i love them! but i wish there were more people pursuing the boring ideas

It is my great pleasure to announce ggPlantmap (github.com/leonardojo/ggPlan…), an open-source R package to create ggplot maps from plant images. Now, you can create beautiful plant heatmaps to be visualized and modified in a R coding environment.

It's been a while since this work started as the main project in Asier's PhD. Long story short is that DELLAs have not changed that much during evolution, which is impressive, but functional divergence was partly driven by their interactors and cis element evolution.
New Letter "DELLA functions evolved by rewiring of associated transcriptional networks" rdcu.be/c7vVN
DELLA modulate dozens of TFs through direct physical interaction. This ability is conserved in land plants but with different biological effects in different lineages.
Great work! Congratulations Karthi @murukarthickj and the whole team!
