Bloomington police say the ATF and FBI are now helping with the investigation into Sundayâs shooting on Kirkwood Avenue. Police also say six of the seven people who were shot have been released from the hospital. One person is still being treated.
License plate readers arenât the problem. The problem is the people committing crimes and anyone who abuses the technology. Bloomington and any other city that gets rid of these tools shouldnât be surprised if crime goes up.

An update on the shooting that injured seven people along Kirkwood Avenue in Bloomington early this morning. Police say six of the victims are from Indianapolis and one is from Greenwood. None are IU students. Police say they were in Bloomington to party and celebrate Halloween.

A former Henry County sheriffâs deputy is accused of collecting $360 in pay for hours he spent working a private security job instead of a traffic safety program.
State police say Sgt. Ryan Burns, 41, claimed he worked from 7 p.m. Feb. 27 until 3 a.m. Feb. 28 through Operation Pullover, a program that pays officers for traffic safety work.
He faces charges of theft, fraud, official misconduct and ghost employment. The case is being handled by a special prosecutor from Hancock County.

Multiple people have been stabbed at the intersection of Fort Wayne Avenue and Pennsylvania Street in downtown Indianapolis. IMPD and Capitol Police are investigating. At least one person has been taken to a hospital by ambulance.
