Statement by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom
As members of NATO, we are committed to strengthening Arctic security as a shared transatlantic interest. The pre-coordinated Danish exercise ”Arctic Endurance” conducted with Allies, responds to this necessity. It poses no threat to anyone.
We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland. Building on the process begun last week, we stand ready to engage in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we stand firmly behind.
Tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral. We will continue to stand united and coordinated in our response. We are committed to upholding our sovereignty.

Marking Tanganyika’s Independence, a moment that strengthened Africa’s path to liberation.
Sweden stood early with Tanganyika’s vision of self-determination and the Pan-African struggle.
We honour Tanzania and our shared values of justice and equality.

LHRC has released its Human Rights Day 2025 Press Statement, outlining a series of serious human rights violations recorded before, during, and after the 2025 General Election. The statement highlights human rights violations including unlawful arrests, enforced disappearances, excessive use of force resulting in civilian deaths, treason charges against critics, suppression of media freedom, internet shutdowns, and violations of freedom of worship.
LHRC has also issued strong recommendations to the Government of Tanzania, urging immediate action to protect fundamental rights, ensure accountability, uphold freedom of expression, initiate a new constitution-making process, and strengthen overall human rights protection.

Deeply concerned about shrinking democratic space, abductions, violence, internet shutdown and reports of serious irregularities surrounding the elections in Tanzania. Dialogue with all stakeholders- opposition, civil society and faith-based organisations, is essential. A genuine multiparty system must be the goal.
The uncertainty and violence in Tanzania are a dangerous moment.
We urge all parties to prevent further escalation.
The authorities must exercise maximum restraint and respect the right of assembly.
Single-party rule is not the way forward for Tanzania.
