YESSSSSSSSSS…..love this! Good stuff, Greg….and Rudy is the man!
I learned this drill from Rudy Jaramillo when I was with the Rangers. I'm trying to hit this pitch (down, in and deeper in the zone) up the middle with backspin. It forced me to be direct with the barrel out front and get familiar/comfortable with that location without muscling up.
Place the tee just in front of your stride foot on the inside corner. Drive the ball up the middle and if possible, to the opposite corner of the cage.
I loved the feeling of not fearing the inside pitch. It gave me the freedom to focus on the heart of the plate. I later got traded to the Yankees and saw Derek Jeter consistently hit this location to the RCF gap (in game), solidifying my confidence in this drill.
If you (or your hitter) can't hit this ball up the middle, it's likely that the shoulders are turning prematurely. It ain't for everybody, but it could be for somebody!
Thanks for watching/reading all that!

Isn’t it amazing what can happen if you put the ball in play instead of striking out?
It’s nothing new!
It’s how we played!
Nothing good happens when you strike out!
This is an error not a fielder’s choice btw.

The Rays believe in Strike one. They hit the FB. They run the bases well. They play good defense. Bottom half of order know who they are and execute. Move runners if they need to. More importantly they don't strike out!! Sometimes people complicate this game. They keep it simple

I used to stay up until 1 AM to watch this guy throw 80 passes for 600 yards against San Jose State.
That was 20 years ago. Colt is long dead.
It's these types of moments when the nostalgia hits you squarely in the face and you truly feel OLD. It's tough.

3. The biggest offensive highlight was this 55-yard TD pass from JC French to (#9) Malachi Henry who caught 10 touchdown passes last year for Central Arkansas.
“He’s a physical guy so he’s got good strength and he can block,” said Satterfield. “And then we saw on that play, he ran by the corner. That was a big-time play by him. He increased his speed this summer, which was good to see. He’ll be in the rotation.”
