The other team just figured out the Vikings sweet spot. And now everyone will use it against them. The rest of the season will be a long one unless the offense figures it out.

They don't do this when you're wrong.

10 years ago, a group of angry Oregon college students called Reedies Against Racism, called the sketch blackface, and hateful, making the teacher who showed it to them get PTSD and making her life a living hell. Here's a tribute to those students, with a big F you!

1774: they blew tobacco smoke up drowning victims' backsides to revive them, and the kits hung along the Thames like lifebuoys. 1863: they sold cocaine wine as a daily tonic, and a pope pinned a gold medal on it. 1898: they sold heroin as a cough medicine, and spooned it into coughing children. 1918: they sold radium water as a health drink, and the millionaire who drank 1,400 bottles was buried in a lead-lined coffin with most of his jaw gone. 1921: they put lead in petrol, and Britain kept it in the pumps until 2000. 1930s: they X-rayed children's feet in shoe shops, and kids queued to watch their toes wiggle on the screen. 1940s: they rubbed mercury teething powder into babies' gums, and about 1 in 500 of those babies was poisoned. 1946: they sold cigarettes on the line that more doctors smoked their brand, and put a man in a white coat on the advert. 1949: they gave the lobotomy a Nobel Prize, and doctors went in through the eye socket with an ice pick. 1952: they sold a cigarette filter made of asbestos as the greatest health protection in smoking history, and smokers drew it into their lungs with every puff. 1957: they sold thalidomide to pregnant women for morning sickness, and around 10,000 babies were born with missing or shortened limbs. 1960s: they sold margarine as the heart-healthy fat, and spread trans fat on a generation's toast. 1996: they sold OxyContin as barely addictive, and started an overdose epidemic. 1999: they sold Vioxx for sore joints, and pulled it five years later after tens of thousands of heart attacks. 2026: they're selling seed oil as the heart-healthy fat, and it's in almost every packet in your kitchen. Every one of these came with an expert's blessing and the same total certainty. The people telling you which fat to fear today sit in the same chairs as the ones who put radium in the water and a doctor on the cigarette packet, and they're every bit as sure. "The experts recommend it" has the longest body count in medicine...... The above is copied from another person on another platform. Credit to @samahoole on FB.

Two truths and a lie: It wasn't wasted. It wasn't for your guy. The horse chick behind me in line with the pink hair and who vouldn't get through security at the airport because of her piercings was checking me out.

It started strong but she lost me. I can't decide to go "See, the Patriarchy doesn't exist" or "yay for the XY chromosome!" TL;DR: Don't drop this content on a friday.

In America, men have worse health outcomes across every ethnic, racial and socioeconomic group; they are more likely to die at every age; and they lead in 13 of the top 15 causes of death. Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health spends about 2.5 times more on women’s health research than it does on men’s, and this has been true for nearly forty years. Yet, despite this… there are now eight federal, tax-funded Offices of Women’s Health, and zero for men. And so, statistically speaking, the formation of the first Office of Men’s Health seems like a no-brainer, and an urgently needed step to help stem the deluge of early male deaths. But sadly, many still find it a controversial ask, and remain dedicated to undermining any political move to open such an office. Instead, such people insist the opposite is true: that women’s health is where attention, and all the funding, should go. So let’s look at the stats and ask what is so unpopular about men living long, healthy, happy lives… What do you think? ~ My new Ask Me (Us) Anything with @LisaBritton is out now! youtube.com/watch?v=bAYEaT8W… Men lead in 13 of the top 15 causes of death sciencedirect.com/science/ar… NIH Gendered Funding jameslnuzzo.substack.com/p/n… Men and boys have higher mortality at every age washingtonpost.com/wellness/… Men have worse health in every group congress.gov/bill/119th-cong…

The saddest part of being on X is that I am worried that every new account I see is AI or worse. I used to forge "relationships" with people who were smart and (or?) funny or insightful or who just have my brand of Liberty living crazy. Even scammers. Now? Zero trust. Zero.

30 years ago the penetration of PCs at white collar desktops hadn't fully taken off. Don't even mention blue collar workplaces. Accountants, some engineers, and "thinking" types used them. So what? Tech competency wasn't a big deal. The average worker didn't need to worry about computers. Today almost everyone (except maybe janitors?) needs to know "tech." So what? Using computers effectively requires a cerain minimal intellect. A level that wasn't required for the same roles in the past. Which means fewer people can do those jobs and more people are locked out of them: the people who don't have as many working opportunities because they're not "smart enough." So we are removing people from the workforce (bad for the economy and an impacted indovodual's ego). People who can't get jobs are not as healthy, more likely to abuse drugs, and potentially break the law. None of which are good for the individual or society. So Universal basic income? Nice try but that doesn't fix the ego, health, or drug use. Technology unlocks tremendous productivity gains and profits but destroys the portion of society who needs the most help and assistance. TL;DR: I am now a Luddite.
