A huge congratulations to Mabusi Kgwete, a TB champion, on receiving an award for her abstract presentation at the #SATBConference2026. This recognition shows the power of community voices in shaping the #TB response and highlights the important role that TB champions play in sharing lived experiences, driving advocacy and influencing change. We are incredibly proud of Mabusi for representing communities affected by #TB and for ensuring that their experiences remain at the centre of conversations on research, policy and action. #EndTB @ConferenceTb @MRCza @HST_health @SA_AIDSCOUNCIL @CsfSanac @StopTBKe @TheUnion_TBLH @StopTB @TBProof @TBHIVCare

In closing, Motsoaledi called for renewed national commitment in the fight against #TB. He urged stakeholders to move beyond discussion and unite around a shared vision of a South Africa free from #TB, where no child dies from the disease and no family is pushed deeper into poverty because of it. "Let this conference not simply be a gathering of experts but a moment of renewed national commitment, where science, policy, communities and leadership come together around a shared vision. Together, we can #EndTB." @HealthZA @RHAPnews @SpotlightNSP @TBProof @FastTrackTBCure @FASTPrEPstudy @SoulCity_SA @TBChampions_ke @AquitySA @IDevep909 @ehwoza @SA_AIDSCOUNCIL @CsfSanac @TBHIVCare
Addressing delegates at the #SATBConference2026, @HealthZA Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, touched on the FOUR pillars of the #EndTB Strategic Plan. He emphasises the importance of patient-centred care, noting that finding people with #TB is not enough without collaboration from all sectors, especially the @The_DSD, who play a critical role in social protection and support. “TB cannot be ended through biomedical approaches alone. It requires strong coordination from all departments to improve #TB outcomes and support T B prevention”. @ConferenceTb @WHO @WHOSouthAfrica @UNICEF_SA @StopTB @TAC @TheUnion_TBLH @TBChampions_ke @realTBpeople @RHAPnews @SoulCity_SA @WitsRHI @ResearchConnec1 @AquitySA @heala_SA @SpotlightNSP @GautengHealth @TBProof

Our 2025 State of TB Report shows that SA continues to face a persistent TB crisis, with many people remaining undiagnosed and untreated. Finding these missing cases is important to ensure everyone affected by TB can access the care they need to stop the spread of the disease.

“As a TB survivor, I’m deeply grateful that we are one step closer to a vaccine, but it must reach our communities. People need to understand why testing matters, that this is preventive therapy, and above all, that the vaccine is safe. The message should be simple, clear, and targeted so no one is left behind.” - Ms Phumeza Tisile in the opening session. #TBVaccineReadySA #EndTBNow #TBPreparenessSA
