imagine explaining this tweet to someone in 2011, the year Hochul was first elected to Congress and Minaj was a superstar on the ride following the release of “Pink Friday” (2010)
Best case scenario is that Bankhead's support collapses with little fanfare, while R's continue to support Bodnar in decent numbers (and no one notices).
Essentially the only way Bodnar wins here is if no one thinks he can actually win...sort of the Jesse Ventura in 1998 path.
Montana Senate:
⚪️ Bodnar 39% (+1)
🔴 Alme 38%
🔵 Bankhead 10%
🟡 Austin 2%
Undecided 11%

Nah...Meryl winning for Sophie's Choice is one of those wins that no amount of precursors or previous Oscars is going to stop. It's like Day-Lewis in Lincoln...all who came to beat it shall be vanquished.
Saying "I haven't heard of someone, so they must not be famous" is one of those traps that 99% of the time you're telling on yourself more than the culture.
Cassavetes is incredibly famous & influential. Not having heard of him means you're not a big cinephile. Period.
OK, I'll bite. If John Cassavetes is so insanely influential and brilliant, why have I not heard about him until recently?
I've been on a side-quest with classic and esoteric movies, mostly through the Criterion collection. I've watched dozens of Criterion closet picks from filmmakers and actors I admire.
They pick Cassavetes films ALL THE TIME. Probably more than any other director except Scorsese. I haven't seen a single Cassavetes film. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about a Cassavetes film outside of those videos.
I'm not a slouch on film, I've got a pretty wide spread on what I've seen & what I appreciate. How has Cassavetes slipped through that net so completely for so long?
It'd probably be a House candidate who had to run right for years to avoid a primary in a gerrymandered seat...making it harder for him to win statewide.
If she loses this is 100% on Trump in a way no Senate loss would be. He begged for Graham to be the nominee.
It's also genuinely been a while since we had a six-year term fluke Senator who starts as a one-term wonder. Doug Jones was there for just three years...likely Mark Kirk?
I'm going on record as saying SC will be closer than NH and MN.

Whether you voted for Donald Trump, Lindsey Graham, or someone else, you deserve leaders who care more about lowering your bills than playing politics in Washington.
That’s what this campaign is about.

Dems won the US Senate that year. Just looking at that graph isn't good enough to see what was going on under the hood.
It's insane how rare it is that a losing senator makes a comeback. Brown being the first (if he wins) to do so since 1988 is truly a crazy stat if you think about how often former House members successfully run again for their seats after losing.
We are officially kicking off my 2026 election night guide, with predictions in all Senate/Gov/House seats. We start with the "A" states, including the critical AK Gov/Sen elections, as well as 2 flip opps in AZ & an endangered Dem incumbent in Alabama: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com…
We are continuing our election night guide with CA through HI, including a huge governor's race in Georgia, and a host of competitive House seats in California, Florida & Colorado. All my predictions here: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com…
In what is likely the only non-partisan, top tier poll of the entire South Carolina Senate race post Darline Graham's entry, it's a tie.
I can't really hope for this win (SC is so red), but if Andrews gets the upset, it'd be one of the coolest wins I've gotten to witness. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
NEW: South Carolina Senate (NYT/Siena)
🟦Annie Andrews 48%
🟥Darline Graham 48%

There's really not, at least federally. Manchin had to be close, but even then I'd wager a majority of his voters were Clinton supporters rather than Trump.
Murkowski is really in a class by herself in being a politician who is in office due to the other party.
