The dry Nallathangal odai (நல்லதங்காள் ஓடை) river is flowing near Kothayam check dam in Dindigul dt. This river originate in the northern Palani hills near Sindalavadampatti, it joins Amaravati near Karaiyur. When dry river flows, it brings life 😍1/2

😍 Cheyyar river is flowing in Tiruvannamalai dt, it is the largest tributary of Palar with massive 4363 sqkm basin area. It originate in Jawadhu hills, join Palar at Thirumukkudal. It pass through 8 barrages to fill 100’s of lakes, irrigate 1.08 lakh acres. 1/2

Suruliyar river at Veerapandi in Theni dt. Suruliyar originate in Megamalai, It drains the Cumbum valley, it also carries the Mullaperiyar water into Vaigai dam

Thirumurthy hills is the birth place of Bharatapuzha (aka Nila) river. It originate as Palar river, which meets Aliyar, join sea at Ponnani in Kerala. Drains part of Anamalai Tiger reserve. This water will go to Thirumurthy dam(1.744 TMC), it is only 60% full
Sad. I am still puzzled why the physically water starved Tamil Nadu state is ignoring its life giving river and being silent spectators. TN leads in number of dead rivers (River that is not even suitable for aquatic life)

🌊 66.47 அடியை எட்டி நிரம்பிய அணை — 572 கனஅடி உபரி நீர் ஆற்றில் வெளியேற்றம்!
#திண்டுக்கல் மாவட்டத்தில் வடகிழக்குப் பருவமழை தீவிரமடைந்துள்ள நிலையில், பழனி மேற்கு தொடர்ச்சி மலை மற்றும் சுற்றுவட்டாரப் பகுதிகளில் கனமழை பெய்தது.
இதன் காரணமாக, பழனி அருகே உள்ள வரதமாநதி அணை தனது முழுக் கொள்ளளவான 66.47 அடியை எட்டி நிரம்பியது. அணையிலிருந்து சண்முகநதி ஆற்றில் வினாடிக்கு 572 கனஅடி உபரி நீர் ஆற்றில் வெளியேற்றப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
ஆனால் வரதமாநதி சிரிய அணை என்பதால் நிரம்பி விட்டது இன்னும் பாலாறு பொருந்தலாறு நிரம்பவில்லை
குதிரையாறும் நிரம்பவில்லை .. விரைவில் நிரம்ப வேண்டும் என்று மக்கள் மற்றும் விவசாயிகள் எதிர்பார்ப்பு..

Sanmukha Nadhi basin saw heaviest rainfall yesterday in Tamil Nadu. After long time, river is flowing near Kalthurai anicut in Dindigul dt. It will join Amaravati at Alangiyam today 😍. Vardhamanadhi also opening 500+ cusec into the river.

Noyyal river has a basin area of 3510sqkm with avg annual rainfall of ~650mm, one of the most urbanized river basin in #TamilNadu. As per 2011 census, basin had a population of ~42lakh. In 2019, water quality study at Elunuthimangalam found, river is not suitable for agriculture
The 11th day of NEM2026 belong to Amaravati river & Palani range. Good rainfall also reported in the extensive lake basin of Saruganiyar, Koluvanar, Pambar, South Vellar, Manimuttar, lower Vaigai, Ambuliyar, Agniyar, Karaiyar, Pambar rivers of Sivagangai-Ramnad-Pudukottai dt 1/2
It is great to see the region with extensive lake system got a good rainfall. In these region, hardly any water goes to sea, everything captured by 20000+ lakes in Ramnad, Sivagangai, Pudukottai dt. RS Mangalam lake catchment saw heavy rainfall. Happy day for our lake region 3/4
Due to heavy rainfall, Varattar river is flowing near Othakkalmandapam in Coimbatore dt. This water is going towards Kerala. Varattar join Koraiyar that will join Bharatapuzha river, it meets sea at Ponanni in Kerala. Varattar will submerge many illegal construction on its path
