Olympic Champion Masai Russell on being against the Women’s 100m hurdle height being raised, “I am against it completely…I don’t think they are trying to protect anyone. It’s the woman are running too fast now so let’s change something. My rebuttal to that is when Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay, all the other Jamaicans I can’t think of right now, Justin Gaitlin, Asafa Powell…back then was they like we need to change the track because they running too fast? #sports #women #trackandfield #outtapocket #RG3

Olympic Champion Masai Russell on the biggest issue with Track and Field right now, “The problem with track and field is that every media outlet just wants their check. If everyone could come together and you have one place where you can watch track just like you do during the Olympics on NBC or college football, WNBA…not having to go through all these apps to find track and field.” #sports #trackandfield #outtapocket #RG3

The most interesting thing about these films is that Superman's greatest obstacle isn't General Zod, Lex Luthor, or even Batman. It's the gap between who Clark actually is and what people believe he represents. He saves lives, yet his power terrifies the world; he sacrifices himself, yet the world spends much of his story questioning whether he deserves to exist among them.

110s can be a great workout. Most coaches who watch this make two mistakes which ruins the workout: 1. You aren't Alabama. They're fitness is more homogenized. They can kind of get away with generic time targets. Any HS team can't. Group people by ability, not positions. Put them in smaller groups, gave them a target that aligns with the adaptation your after. And instead of seeing a failure to hit that target as some lack of effort, see it as information. There endurance wasn't able to hold up to the task demands. Adjust the targets, and build up in the future. OR adjust their rest periods to keep them going (i.e., sit out after 10, etc.) 2. Stop with the if everyone doesn't make it, the whole team runs again nonsense. If that's your mindset you are NOT training for an adaptation. You are NOT 'conditioning' them. You are punishing folks who are correctly riding that line, and potentially overtraining people who did the workout right, just because someone else ran slower. It's dumb. Don't do it. Football conditioning is a copycat game. HS coaches are going to see this and copy it. Stop. Pause. And ask: 1. What's the point, what adaptation am I after? 2. How do I manipulate the variables (speed, recovery, groupings, reps, sets) to get the productive adaptations I want.
Nick Saban didn’t mess around with Alabama’s 4th quarter program 💪 All six episodes of “Saban” premieres TONIGHT at 6 PM ET on the ESPN App 🍿

Jalen Ramsey says Marlon Humphrey should have leaped over his contract value to reset the cornerback market! He breaks down how elite corners need to leverage their stats and timing to reset market prices after every big signing. "Marlon Humphrey's got his deal after me. And he signed for $97 Million [Contract]. Marlon should have jumped me though, cause he should have used his leverage. And he was coming off an All-Pro." "I'm saying this and he got $97M, that's crazy. He signed a great deal, that's an amazing deal. But I think he could have jumped me. The top guys should always jump each other." "So if I sign for $20 Million [a year], Marlon did his contract a week or two after mine. His agent should have just took my contract and went to the Ravens and been like 'this plus a mill'." "That's how it should go. You up now, so now it's your turn to reset the market. What's their argument? 'Oh, you not Jalen Ramsey?' 'All right, go get Jalen Ramsey'. 'Oh, you can't because he locked in 5 years $105 million [Contract].'" "'So I am Jalen Ramsey to you, I'm that valuable to you, so now I gotta jump him'. So I went $20 Million [Salary], Marlon should have went $21M or $20.5M, whatever you want to call it. Marshon Lattimore should have went $21M, $21.5M . Then you got J.C. Horn this year, $22M, $22.5M dollars." (2022) [via @thepivot ft. @jalenramsey / #herewego]

One Step Trail Leg - Use the one-step trail-leg drill to isolate trail-leg mechanics while still allowing the athlete to practice the movement with forward momentum. - Emphasize driving the trail-leg knee forward and through the hurdle rather than allowing the leg to swing excessively around the side. - Keep the trail leg compact and efficient so the athlete can recover it quickly back into a strong sprinting position. - Maintain forward body position and avoid excessive rotation of the hips and shoulders as the trail leg comes through. - Use closely spaced hurdles to create repeated opportunities for athletes to develop rhythm, coordination, and consistency with the trail-leg action. - Progress the drill by increasing speed and intensity once the athlete demonstrates proper mechanics, with the goal of transferring the movement to full-speed hurdling. “Athletes should never be sore from training.” ~Charlie Francis
Productive Training doesn’t leave athletes exhausted or sore. Because the neurological and structural changes we seek to improve performance are actually impaired by excessive fatigue due to them needing frequent exposure. Fatigue is a bottleneck for performance improvement.

Professional poker player Phil Ivey won $9.6 million at the Borgata. The casino paid him, then sued to get it back. At London’s Crockfords, he won another £7.7 million. They refused to pay. In the video below, Ivey says his job is to play the game, find a weakness in the casino and use it to win. He calls the casino his opponent and points out that it spends millions of dollars protecting its games. He wanted a specific brand of cards, a Cantonese-speaking dealer and the same decks reused. The casinos agreed. His playing partner, Cheung Yin Sun, asked the dealer to rotate certain cards, presenting it as a matter of luck. The cards had tiny differences along their backs. Once high-value cards faced one way and the others faced the opposite way, those differences helped identify what was coming next. Ivey never marked the cards. The dealer handled them. But the casino didn’t understand what those requests were doing to the odds. He called it an advantage. The casinos called it cheating. In 2017, the UK Supreme Court ruled against him: persuading the dealer to arrange the cards crossed the line. The casino had approved his requests while expecting to win. Ivey knew something about its own cards that it didn’t. Was he cheating, or should a casino know its own game before accepting someone’s money?
