What if Esther had valued her position more than her purpose and remained silent when her people needed her voice? What if Moses had looked at the burning bush and told God, "Find someone else"? What if Abraham had allowed fear to outweigh faith when God tested his obedience? What if Mary had considered the cost of her calling and decided the sacrifice was simply too great? How many times have you called it being cautious when God was calling you to be courageous? How many times have you called it waiting on God's timing when He was waiting on your obedience? What if the giant standing in your way isn't Goliath, but the fear you've allowed to grow larger than your faith? What if the sea has already been parted, but you're still standing on the shore, waiting for another sign? What if the prison holding you isn't made of iron, but of excuses, comfort, and the limits you've placed on yourself? We admire the courage of biblical men and women because we know how their stories ended. We celebrate their faith because we've already read the final chapter. But what about the moment before the miracle? The moment before David released the stone. The moment before Peter stepped out of the boat. The moment before Esther entered the king's presence. The moment before Moses returned to Egypt. The moment before Abraham lifted his eyes to the mountain. Those were not moments of certainty. They were moments of decision. And that's where faith is tested. It's easy to say you'd have stood before Goliath when you already know David won. It's easy to say you'd have walked on water when you already know Jesus was there. It's easy to say you'd have entered the furnace when you already know God delivered the three Hebrew men. But would you have moved when the outcome was unknown? Would you have obeyed when obedience threatened your comfort? Would you have stood firm when standing firm cost you something? We want the Red Sea to part without stepping toward the water. We want the victory without the battle, the testimony without the trial, and the breakthrough without the discipline of obedience. We want God to use us, provided He does it on our terms. But faith was never a negotiation over comfort. Noah built before the rain came. David stepped forward before the victory was certain. Joshua marched before the walls fell. Daniel prayed even when he knew the lions were waiting. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood firm even when the furnace was burning. They didn't need to know every detail of what God would do. They knew where they stood and whom they trusted. And perhaps that's the question we need to confront. What if God has already made His direction clear, but you've been calling your hesitation discernment? What if you've mistaken comfort for peace, indecision for patience, and fear for wisdom? What if the opportunity you've been praying for requires a version of you that you're still afraid to become? You keep asking God to use you, but only where it's convenient. You keep asking Him to lead you, but only where the road is familiar. You keep praying for greater faith while refusing the very circumstances that would require you to exercise it. At some point, faith must become more than something you profess. It must become something you demonstrate. Not recklessness. Not blind ambition. Not the absence of wisdom. But the courage to obey when the direction is clear, the conviction to stand when the pressure rises, and the discipline to move when fear tells you to remain still. Faith doesn't mean you know how the story ends. Faith means you trust the One who does. So, what if the next chapter of your life requires you to stop negotiating with fear? What if the door you've been asking God to open is already open, and the only thing standing in the way is your willingness to walk through it? What if you've been praying for God to move the mountain when He's been preparing you to climb it? What if you've been asking for another sign when He's already given you direction? What if the answer to your prayer requires something from you? Perhaps the question isn't whether you believe God can. Perhaps the question is whether you're willing to trust Him enough to do what He's asking of you. Because the next great testimony of faith doesn't have to belong to someone in the pages of Scripture. It could begin with you. So stop asking only what God can do through someone else. Start asking what He is calling you to do. The question is no longer just, "What if?" The question is: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
