NEW:
As the QueensWay gets federal funding, rail advocates are fuming that New York's leaders are passing on a rare, once-in-a-generation opportunity to add desperately needed transit in Queens—all so a park can have another park in it.

The MTA projects almost 90k daily riders on the IBX. Seattle Line 1 has 80k riders and needs 4-car monster trains to handle ridership. How is this better than a higher capacity regional rail line?

Notice anything different? (Make sure your sound is on!) The MTA has installed continuously-welded rail on the express track between Hewes Street and Flushing Avenue as a test for how welded rail interacts with the old steel els. It's noticably quieter.

One of the biggest myths about city building is that it's inherently more expensive to create beautiful/lovely places. It's not.
Most places we love are rather inexpensive to build. But since there's a scarcity of high quality places, & a high demand to live there, prices go up.
