The same faces, the same scandals, the same promises… Haiti must finally break free from partisan loyalty and demand accountability from the entire political class. The same faces, the same scandals, the same promises… Haiti must finally break away from partisan loyalty and demand accountability from the entire political class The return of Michel Joseph Martelly to the political debate, particularly with his registration under the DEBLOKE banner, has revived discussions around his record, the controversies that marked his presidency from 2011 to 2016, and the sanctions against him. Canada and the United States have taken measures against the former president. Washington accuses him notably of having facilitated international drug trafficking and financially supported several armed gangs in Haiti. These accusations constitute the official reasons for the American sanctions, but should not be presented as a judicial conviction. However, reducing the debate on Haitian political responsibility to the sole case of Martelly would be a mistake. The question must be much broader: what about the other figures who have participated in the management of the country, occupied strategic positions in public institutions, or claimed to represent a political alternative? Several officials have exercised significant power without their careers and decisions systematically undergoing thorough public scrutiny. The case of Jocelerme Privert also deserves attention. Provisional President between 2016 and 2017, former Minister of Finance, former Minister of the Interior, and former senator, he is among the figures sanctioned by Canada in February 2023. His name was also cited in a Haitian legal proceeding regarding corruption accusations related to the management of public funds. Gary Bodeau, former president of the Chamber of Deputies and candidate for the Platfòm Rekonsilye party, is also facing serious accusations. In April 2023, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned him for his alleged involvement in several corruption schemes. According to U.S. authorities, he allegedly solicited and facilitated payments in exchange for his influence over ministerial appointments and parliamentary votes. U.S. authorities also cite hundreds of millions of gourdes used to influence a vote in 2019. He has also been sanctioned by Canada. The background of Claude Joseph, former Prime Minister and leader of the EDE party, must also be examined. His name appears in the legal file concerning the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, in which he was charged with alleged complicity and criminal association. He has rejected these accusations, denouncing what he considers a politically motivated procedure. These elements do not constitute a finding of guilt, but they are among the legal issues with which his public life is linked. Other candidates, such as Jerry Tardieu, former deputy for Pétion-Ville and leader of En Avant pour Haïti, must also be evaluated based on their responsibilities and accomplishments. His parliamentary experience between 2016 and 2020, his legislative proposals, and his political engagement must be examined, as well as the limitations and results of his actions. In the absence of sufficiently documented accusations or sanctions against him in the sources consulted, it would be incorrect to attribute wrongdoing to him. This requirement applies to all other candidates, including Wilson Jeudy, Ricardo Jean-Pierre, Deus Déronneth, Wilner Joseph, and other individuals registered with the Provisional Electoral Council. Their registration does not constitute final validation of their candidacy or a guarantee of their experience. Each candidate must be able to present their background, previous responsibilities, achievements, and platform. mag2news.co/les-memes-visage…

Updates: *Several people have died in the area near the main cemetery in Port-au-Prince.* *A large house—known as the Gabelis house—was destroyed by a drone, with several people inside.* A *fritay* vendor died, along with her husband. The gangs have started moving the bodies of their dead from their camps. Gang ambulances are also on the scene; they have already picked up at least a dozen gang members who were killed by gunfire. The gangs are leaving Salomon now and heading toward Potay. Just now, bodies are being discovered in collapsed houses in the Gabelis alleyway, near the main cemetery. 4 civilians and at least 13 gang members were killed last night.

because AAA game publishers would LOVE to see gaming become a subscription in the cloud, remote only. the older/traditional indie game devs are generally anti AI alot of pretenders/AI bros are being 'game devs' in the last month however......

You all can play dumb if you want to. They know that as long as they sell the narrative that Black and brown people are the ones committing fraud, that will make it easier to convince low-income white people — who are the largest recipients of these services — to vote against their own interests. It also generally encourages people to see these services only as tools of abuse and fraud. The meme wouldn’t be as effective if they used Brett Favre’s photo, would it?

KD has mastered the individual craft of putting the ball in the hoop. But he’s not even close to understanding, let alone mastering the team sport that is basketball.
Kevin Durant says where he would rank himself among the all time greats “I just look at it like, I can’t relate to Michael Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Wilt... I mean, I could talk deeply about the game of basketball with all of them. I’m at that table for sure. I’m not saying I’m better or they’re better, because it don’t really matter. I feel like I mastered the game, and that should be the only goal for every player.” “I don’t care about Magic Johnson or Larry Bird, what they’ve done in comparison to me. I’m with the standard, the standard that they set. I want to reach that as far as longevity, relevance, impact on the game, impact on the city, championships. I want that too.” “At one point, I realized none of that matters. Why am I comparing myself to another man? I should just be playing against myself, trying to be better. Leave that up to the fans.” “I’m not comparing myself to another human being in anything that I do. I’m inspired by people, don’t get me wrong. I want to emulate great people and successful people. I want to do what they do, and I want to learn from people who make mistakes.” “But I’m not sitting here trying to be better than you. I’m not going into the gym working on my shot saying, ‘This right here is going to make me better than Bird. This is going to make me better than Magic or Jordan.’”

Michael Jackson been dead damn near 20 years. This year his 44 year old album went #1. And his movie went #1. Now it’s a dude young enough to be his grandson who got famous and rich in a month just for impersonating him. And it’s people out here that think they bigger than him

If people understood that latam built itself in the premises of we are not like those Haitian negros we would be further along 😪. The whole point was if we become independent we will contain our black and indigenous population so another Haiti will never happen again.
