Whenever I travel across Africa and engage in conversations, lots of people are curious to understand why stablecoins became a thing in Nigeria. This helps in understanding why.
Did I just hear that Nigeria’s net foreign exchange reserves were just $3bn in 2023? And are now 15 times higher.
Gross reserves were then cited as around $30bn.
This does explain why the naira was allowed to float, and needed to depreciate

Really been impressed with the Nigerian Immigration Service for a while now. Whatever @MinOfInteriorNG is doing, he should keep doing it.
I struggle to see any scenario where an import-dependent economy like Nigeria having larger foreign reserves is a bad thing.

A group of Business leaders gathered at Oriental Hotel in VI in Lagos last week openly lamented the state of Ozumba Mbadiwe the road leading to the hotel. Today I asked one of them how come so many powerful people could be so loudly critical and none could make a
Public statement to those they pay taxes to and have a right to hold accountable. The answer I got reaffirmed my view that the development failure in Nigeria flows from a crisis of elite.
Will be there 👍🏾🇳🇬
