As an infielder its imperative that your stay low to field the ball well.
Checkout this drill we use to force you to stay low.
Even hitters at the highest level can have difficulty interpreting the phrase "get into your legs".
When we use terms like "use your legs" too often hitters load into their quads through knee flexion, which renders the back hip useless.
When hitters can load into their hip/glute/hamstring correctly the back leg can work in conjunction with the front leg, leading to a controlled load and forward move that can aid rotation and keep hitters stacked and adjustable.
Good barrel turn = good barrel depth, longer distance through the hitting zone, and a greater opportunity to match swing plane with pitch plane.
Good chance it increases bat speed at contact as well because the majority of the weight of a bat is in the barrel. Barrel depth. Matching pitch plane.
Staying on plane longer. Higher barrel speed. That's a win win win win for all hitters.

80 to 94 in 3 months of work takes commitment. Athan went from barely over 140 lbs to adding nearly 30 lbs and dominating his lifts/drills.
Want to hit rockets?
Don't make it harder than it needs to be. Do you need to do all these things to hit bombs?
No, but it definitely helps. While there is nuance in swing mechanics when it comes to hitting 100+ mph, there's a reason high school kids weighing 140 lbs soaking wet and can't bench a plate can't sniff it.

From 14 years old and hitting 84 to 15 and hitting 102 mph takes commitment.
Movement prep, global motor control, strength & power, constraint work (drills), mindset, patience, consistency, & grit.
Ashton Mayo made the commitment to buy into training. When you commit to consistency great things happen.
Remote and In Person Training is available to those who want to actually get better.

Almost every hitter can benefit from improving their posture, balance, and learning to control their center of mass (COM).
When a hitter can maintain posture, still rotate when/if they get to 50/50 at heel plant, and control center of mass ground force can be used to help movement start from the middle of the body instead of lengthening the torso and relying on the front side to pull the body into rotation. This leads to more power, greater adjustability, and improved bat path.
Briggs was just a sophomore when he made this transformation. There is more growth and improvement to be made. Sky is the limit for this kid.

The offseason is here and where you train matters.
If you want to have the best tech and coaching available, come by The Hit Mill.
You don't have to be a 6'5" monster to hit the ball hard.
Here's how we've trained a ton of guys 5'10" or shorter to hit the ball 100+ MPH.

The Carter Brundage Case Study is a perfect example of what happens from when we focus on Complete Player Development.
66-93 MPH EV doesn't even begin to tell the whole story. Academics, character, work ethic, movement quality, health, communication.
Come see us if you're tired of staying stagnant.

The hands cannot out race the center of mass in relation to rotation.
When the hands beat the center of mass or the front shoulder energy cannot be transferred and the barrel cannot properly be turned through the zone.
Using the 3/4 Overload Drill can help players "cheat" and feel the hands get turned by the torso instead of leading the torso.
