This is the one we have been waiting for! THEA1200 is on the water. Retro Games Ltd’s video shows the full-size Amiga 1200 recreation leaving the factory and going into shipping containers, with four containers already at sea. The official launch date is Friday 4 December 2026. What is it? It is a modern plug-and-play recreation of the 1992 Commodore Amiga 1200 from Retro Games Ltd, the company behind THEC64, THEA500 Mini, THEVIC20, THE400 Mini and The Spectrum. The case is full-size, the keyboard works, and it connects over HDMI and USB. Retro Games describes the software as emulation of the A1200’s AGA chipset, with A500 (OCS) and ECS modes as well. It is not the same 25-game list as THEA500 Mini. The original Amiga 1200 launched in October 1992 with the AGA chipset, a 14 MHz 68EC020 and typically 2 MB of chip RAM. It was Commodore’s last major home computer before the company collapsed in 1994. The Backstory: THEA1200 was announced on 23 October 2025, with pre-orders from 10 November 2025. Compared with THEA500 Mini, the practical difference is the keyboard: the Mini’s is decorative, while THEA1200’s is full-size and functional, so Workbench and keyboard-heavy titles can be used without an external keyboard.
