Protests persist in Greece and Portugal
Protests continued in Greece and Portugal over rising living costs, strained public services, education shortages and fiscal austerity.
In Athens on the 21st demonstrators gathered outside the University of Athens and marched to Parliament; authorities deployed about 3,000 police and closed nearby metro stations.
In Lisbon protests persisted on the 21st after police earlier cleared a tent camp and arrested 55; thousands had returned to the site on the 20th.
