ALT Bsky post from they/them might be giants ☭ @babadookspinoza.bsky.social: They clapped for 9 months of the worst things I've ever seen-for the starvation, bombardment, displacement of millions, for hundreds of thousands of murders. The blood they clapped for would fill the chamber waist-high. The corpses they cheered for wouldn't fit. Our ruling class!

ALT Thread continues: They cheered, clapped and stood for the torture, rape and execution of children, for summary executions of patients too sick to move and the doctors who refused to abandon them, for the razing of farmland and the famine it created, for the bombing of schools, mosques, churches, homes and hospitals. They gave a standing ovation and riotous applause for the orphaning of countless thousands of children, for countless amputations without anesthesia, for roving death squads posing in the underwear of murdered and displaced women. For genocide. Mass murder. The leveling of Gaza. Do not forget, or refuse to believe out of fear, WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE, now that they have shown you! Our ruling class has decided that the devastation in Gaza is what will be normal. We have other ideas, but we need the power to enact them. These people are, above all, enemies!!

ALT Statement from Mayor Cherelle Parker: As Mayor, I serve every Philadelphian under the explicit premise that freedom of speech and freedom from fear are not competing values. No one should be targeted, threatened, or made to feel unwelcome because of their faith, identity, or background. Every person deserves to feel safe and respected in the city they call home. The planned November 8 boycott ride targets Jewish-owned restaurants in and around Rittenhouse Sq. and falls on the eve of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, a date that carries profound pain for our Jewish neighbors and for all who remember where unchecked hatred can lead. Everyone has the right to peacefully protest and express their political views. But singling out businesses because their owners are Jewish is unacceptable and has no place in our city. Let me be clear: safety is non-negotiable. That is why I have directed the Police Commissioner to coordinate closely with the community and partner agencies.
