Amsterdam Half Marathon - 1:36:05 PB 🇳🇱🤯💃 Shocked, dumbfounded and overjoyed that I managed to take over five minutes off my half marathon PB of 1:41:35 (from Bath in March) this afternoon. I came into it thinking 1:37/1:38 was possible from training - any time under 1:40 would have been pleasing! I was entered in the fastest wave (spent most of the race hanging on 🤣) and I thought ‘why not see how long I can hold that early quick pace’? I thought I could run that for six miles but that mark passed and then 10 miles became the target. At that point I still felt good and, even though I cramped up in the last couple of miles, I got through in just over 1:36 at the 1928 Olympic Stadium!

Off to Amsterdam this morning for a non-work trip (believe it or not). Running the half marathon on Sunday all being well! Getting used to these early starts now 🤣

Cool to be back at Leyton Orient this afternoon for the first time in a few months. Plymouth deserved the win and it was a physical mismatch. Their fans were unbelievable, some of the best away support I’ve heard in football.

An amazing few days covering the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. No first edition of any event will be perfect but I’d give it 8/10 and it has potential. Some of the innovations were pretty cool but with any sporting event, the athletes create the biggest memories. It is vital that the governing body listens to feedback and holds the next edition in a city with a strong LOC and one where they can be confident of engaged sell-out crowds. The challenge will be holding the next Ultimate Champs after the LA 2028 Olympics, in a season where athletes will have to peak for both events + Diamond League final. So it wouldn’t surprise me if there were conversations around evolving/altering the end of the Diamond League in those even years.

Oh my god. Alison Dos Santos has broken the 46-second barrier in the 400m hurdles again! Clocks 45.98 to win the world ultimate title in Budapest, with the third quickest time in history. He of course broke Karsten Warholm’s WR of 45.94 with 45.80 in Zürich last month.
