I appreciate Germany's feelings. But as someone who lives under US sanctions, let me say this: regret and disagreement do not unfroze bank accounts or health insurance.
The EU has a tool: the Blocking Statute. It should use it to protect those sanctioned for seeking justice.

We can do this now, without more complex regulation.
We may not need a new Bureau of AI Responsibility and Fairness (BARF). 🤮
Maybe we just need to enable law enforcement to start holding AI companies accountable for the misdeeds that their technology is already committing.

I have yet to watch #NAZA, so I will confine myself to a matter on which I do have some expertise: the law of armed conflict, and targeting in particular.
Israel’s Manual on the Laws of War remains a closely guarded secret. But this much can responsibly be said: among @NATO states, it is difficult to identify rules so permissive, or a targeting methodology so defective in practice, as to produce, with such regularity, attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure that raise questions of necessity, distinction, proportionality and precaution.
One need not rely on outside critics. Consider what Israel’s own Military Advocate General wrote to senior commanders in February 2024:
“We have encountered breaches of orders and norms”, including “the use of force not justified by military necessity”, pillage, and “the destruction of civilian property against orders”.
Her conclusion was more important still: these were not merely disciplinary matters. Some “cross from disciplinary infractions into criminality”.
That is where any serious legal assessment must begin.

Israel is dismantling Palestinian collective life in the West Bank.
A catastrophe is unfolding across the West Bank. Checkpoints, expulsions, killings and land takeovers are not separate events or isolated human rights violations. They are part of the same system. It is time to connect the dots.
Our new report, The Elimination Project, shows how these mechanisms form one political project: dismantling Palestinian collective life while expanding Israeli control and Jewish presence.
Since late 2022, and especially since October 2023, this process has accelerated and become more openly violent. Palestinians live under constant threat from soldiers and armed settler militias. Since 7 October 2023, Israel has killed 1,107 Palestinians, including 245 children. State-backed settler farms and outposts seize vast areas, communities are expelled, and movement restrictions fragment Palestinian space.
Israel is also strangling the Palestinian economy, criminalizing political and social organizing, shutting down civil society organizations and arresting journalists and activists.
Together, these mechanisms cut Palestinians off from land, livelihoods and one another, dismantling the conditions they need to exist as a people – with institutions, leadership, shared history and a political future.
The Elimination Project is not new. Its logic has shaped Israeli policy for decades through dispossession, fragmentation, military rule and apartheid. In 2017, Bezalel Smotrich published the “Decisive Plan,” centered on making Jewish-Israeli control irreversible. It gives Palestinians three options: relinquish their collective aspirations and live under Jewish supremacy, leave, or face military repression. Under the current government, central elements of this vision are being translated into policy, budgets, powers and practices. In Gaza, this logic has reached its most extreme manifestation: the genocide Israel is committing there.
The international community must stop treating Israel’s violence and violations as isolated incidents, stop enabling Israel’s crimes, and end the impunity that allows the Elimination Project to continue.
Connect the dots. See the system.

I am writing these words from Gaza City, a city tragically collapsing before our eyes.
There are no basic necessities of life here: no clean water, enough food, proper healthcare, or safe shelter. The tents we have lived in for more than three years are torn and worn out. Winter is coming, and we do not know how we will face the rain, cold, and flooding.
We do not know what awaits us. The bombing has never stopped. Hospitals lack medicines, diagnostic equipment, and basic medical supplies. Cancer patients are dying because they cannot leave Gaza for treatment. Waste and sewage have also become a daily crisis, while food and aid are disappearing.
Even death has become more painful. Cemeteries are struggling to accommodate the growing number of people killed. The water we drink is unsafe, food is heavily restricted, and prices are beyond most people’s reach. We are living in a very small part of the city, and our chances of survival shrink every day.
Education has collapsed. Children have been out of school for years, and some are growing up without properly learning to read and write. An entire generation is losing its childhood and future while families struggle simply to survive.
I am deeply saddened by my city. Why all this destruction? Why have water, food, medicine, and shelter become dreams? Talk about us. Write about what is happening here.
Do not let the world become accustomed to this reality. Life in Gaza is far harsher than words can describe.

The West Bank is on fire with settler terrorism so grave that former Israeli generals & prime ministers, and even Mike Huckabee have spoken out — but the dire situation worsens daily.
Al-Mughayyir is the sister village of Brooklyn synagogue @KolotChayeinu. Its 4,000 Palestinian residents have faced attacks from Israeli settlers for years, but now they face arson, the destruction of their water supply, and the shooting of their kids.

BREAKING: Netanyahu confirms what has long been evident: Israel intends to permanently acquire more than 70% of Gaza’s occupied territory, while indefinitely confining its Palestinian population and depriving them of the means indispensable to their survival.
It is a remarkably plain admission of international wrongs: conduct engaging the grave breaches regime of IHL and the war crimes and crimes against humanity for which the @IntlCrimCourt has sought Netanyahu’s arrest.
It is also an avowed attempt to acquire territory by force, contrary to one of the most fundamental rules of the international legal order, reaffirmed by the @CIJ_ICJ in its 2024 Advisory Opinion.
That Netanyahu should say this openly is no longer surprising. That anyone should continue to regard the @BoardOfPeace and its High Representative @nmladenov as anything more than a political fig leaf for what is happening in Gaza is increasingly impossible to understand.
The Security Council should not wait for the BoP mandate to expire at the end of next year. It should urgently visit Gaza, see the situation for itself, and act: withdraw its endorsement of this arrangement and replace it with a lawful and effective framework for humanitarian relief, early recovery and rehabilitation, rather than a smoke screen for atrocity crimes.

Yes, what you’re seeing and reading is real: the Israeli army demolished an entire Palestinian village, Khirbet al-Tabban, leaving its residents homeless.
An entire Palestinian village was wiped off the map, and somehow it barely makes the news.

So when you read about eight members of an NBC News Team being beaten by Israeli settlers today in the West Bank, it's important to note two things:
1. The settler wouldn't do this to Americans had they not received a green light from the Israeli gov.
2. Israel's gov would not have given such a green light unless it felt confident that the US gov - and Amb. Huckabee - wouldn't lift a finger to defend the Americans.

Israel has evicted 33,000 Palestinians from three refugee camps: Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur al-Shams, since early 2025.
The IDF is still refusing to let them return to their homes and is building permanent bases where their homes once stood, making the eviction permanent. They are considering moving on the refugee camps in Tulkarm and Nur al-Shams next.
The people thrown out of their homes are living with their families, in mosques, or trying to start lives elsewhere and depending on meager humanitarian aid. Ethnic cleansing in the West Bank.
