Sen. Ruben Gallego is on the road to campaign for Dems in states like Nevada. If he were a Republican, reporters would preface stories or posts about him with descriptors like “controversial”, “accused adulterer”, “scandal-ridden”.

One week away from Election Day! The grind doesn’t stop, and I’ll never stop working for you. If you’re sick of the direction California is headed, then let’s make a change together. I’d be honored to have your vote. #AD40

Gavin Newsom caught on video admitting that the DSA is "going to be dominant" and “mainstream” - Horsford campaigned with him & AOC. Nevadans need someone to represent them, not someone like Horsford who aligns with Newsom & AOC.
UNDERCOVER: GAVIN NEWSOM SAYS THE DSA IS "GOING TO BE DOMINANT" AND "MAINSTREAM" IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!
"The DSA, the energy and the desire and demand for bold change, not incremental change, is very much going to be dominant. I mean, that's going to be a mainstream Democratic movement. Absolutely. No question about that."
That's California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a likely 2028 presidential candidate, speaking to an undercover journalist while campaigning in New Hampshire.
Asked by a "younger voter" who said "we don't want Kamala Harris, we want more democratic socialist policies":
"No one is arguing to manage the status quo and fail more efficiently."
"You can't play in the margins anymore. The system's broken. It's completely unbalanced, and we can't manage the decline. We have to completely reimagine."

The closer we get to Election Day the more I see in the polling a big distinction among key races - are the candidates in these Dem on Dem races trying for the “out party” voters, or not? And is it working?
- Caruso endorsing Bass could be more significant in the LA Mayors race than people are thinking - polling has shown Raman leading, but that could be undone if those Spencer Pratt voters begrudgingly check the box for Bass as the lesser of two evils. Can’t think of a better vehicle for this than Caruso.
- Very few Republicans are voting in the Ins commissioners race - has to be tough to get Republicans to even know who the “better” Dem is in a down ticket statewide race, and voters also are so upset about the entire insurance market. I predict largest undervote in state history.
- If you look at CA 4 (Thompson), the challenger Eric Jones seems to be more actively courting Republicans (wouldn’t commit to supporting @RepJeffries for speaker!) while in CA 7 (Matsui) challenger Mai Vang is all in on the progressive vote, even doing a podcast with Hassan Piker, so clearly not going for the Rep crossovers.
- One race where I could have gotten it wrong… not seeing as much drop-off in the CA 6 (Kiley - Independent) race. More Republicans are skipping but not to the extent that I was expecting. Still a strongly Dem favored race with Dr Pan ahead. Kiley has to fight two wars: one to hold the Reps and one to pickup Dems and Left-leaning independents… all in a seat Kamala won by 6%. Looks like he may be holding the Reps… but that’s still not enough.
This article outlines more of the how/why with this top two dynamic…

In bipartisan GenX terms…this disgruntled staffer is so not cool.
Rep. Mike Thompson's former staffer TJ Adams-Falconer cuts an ad for his challenger in #CA04:
"Thompson's been there too long. ... Mike Thompson told me directly he plans to die in office. I was Mike Thompson's former communications director and I would vote for Eric Jones."

Wow. It appears Richard Pan hired an LA actress to pretend to be a disabled senior and say she would "disown" me if I were her grandson. If true, this is disqualifying.
Did Richard Pan hire a professional actress from LA to pretend she is a senior in a wheelchair in an ad against @KevinKileyCA? 🧵

Heartbreaking for victims and their families, and Mr. Giamanco who had to kill the 16 year old suspect to saving countless lives. But also the weight of taking any life, and the guilt of feeling like you could have been there quicker, saved lives, is unimaginable.
Kaylub Giamanco was driving home from lunch when he heard gunshots and saw a gunman entering the Oregon elementary school his two young daughters attend. The carpenter ran into the school and killed the teenage suspect. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/man…

By far the weakest Dem candidate on the statewide ticket and privately there are Dems who acknowledge they wouldn’t mind seeing her lose.
I want to be clear: I would have preferred not to make this video. I am sharing it to explain my upcoming coverage of the race for California state controller, including my efforts to interview incumbent Malia Cohen (D-CA) and why my candidate interview coverage of this office will feature only her challenger, Herb Morgan (R-CA).
I would have preferred to produce a piece giving both candidates equal time. Those are journalistic values that guide me every day. After weeks of outreach and back-and-forth with Cohen’s team, a Zoom interview was scheduled, then abruptly canceled by her team. I was told she had no availability to reschedule before the election.
Her team said I could submit written questions for Cohen to answer in writing. I respectfully declined because I wanted voters to hear directly from her on camera, with the opportunity for follow-up questions.
I told her team multiple times I wanted to ensure voters heard her side, her priorities, and answer why she deserves a second term in office. I made every effort to make that happen.
Fairness is always my priority. My goal was to give both candidates the same opportunity to discuss their records, answer meaningful and tough questions, and speak directly to voters. I regret that I could not make that happen, but voters deserve transparency about the process.
