I tried to explain why All of a Sudden rocked my shit so much... and why I'm such a sucker for Hamaguchi tomdavidson92.medium.com/ryu…

Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s All of a Sudden absolutely rocked my shit — why?

All of a Sudden left me devastated. Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s latest film was an overwhelming cinematic experience. And yet, once the emotional…

re: Ebert occasionally "missing" on a great movie, I think people forget that the point of criticizing art is not to be "correct," it's to engage with the work sincerely; a critic should be evaluated less on "correctness" and more the consistency/depth of their work

I love Stanley Kubrick's work. He was a trailblazer in many ways. He was not the 'ultimate outside-the-box director'...
