I'm very uncomfortable with Louise Haigh's resignation. The logic is that no one can be in front line politics who has ever been convicted of a criminal offence, even if spent. I am about as tough as it gets on 'law and order' issues and prison etc. But this seems wrong to me and to undermine the notion of rehabilitation. (I do get the strength of the hypocrisy of Starmer's 'law breakers can't be law makers' attack on Boris Johnson. which I suppose is an important angle here.)

This @_CIEA is something that was supported by the previous Labour government and should be factored in to the @BeckyFrancis7 @bphillipsonMP curriculum & assessment review.

Chronic underfunding of education is leaving our school buildings unsafe and literally crumbling around pupils and staff. To add insult to injury Government has announced it won’t be covering the costs of dealing with this emergency – just how will this crisis be resolved with no additional money? How important is pupil safety to this Government? #ValueEducation theguardian.com/education/20…

BREAKING 🚨 | The government has announced a consultation on the Strikes Act. This is a sham consultation. The Conservatives are brazenly attacking the right to strike.   Ministers have ignored a mountain of evidence on how these laws are unworkable and will escalate disputes.   They are ploughing ahead despite their anti-union drive being slapped down by the UN workers’ rights watchdog - and their recent High Court defeat over the use of agency workers during strikes.   We will fight this legislation all the way.   The entire trade union movement will rally behind any worker sacked for exercising their fundamental right to strike.   We won’t stand by and let workers get sacked for defending their pay and conditions. And we won’t rest until this Act has been repealed.

If you’re a school leader and member of @NAHTnews please watch, share and RT. We are fighting to protect education. Every vote counts…. The profession is stronger when we act together.
We're hoping that by raising the prospect of industrial action, we'll get into a serious conversation with government about the issues that are affecting schools. Make sure you're part of that conversation. Put your ballot in the post by THIS SATURDAY.

Isn’t it great to be from a country where a child born in Canada to Romanian and Chinese parents can come to Britain aged two and become a 🇬🇧 national heroine within 16 years? Let’s try and keep the country that way shall we @pritipatel ?
