This is one of the reason why I advocate for people to wait until they’re 21 to do porn. At 18, you may be legally an adult, but you are still a teenager. At that age, you are not thinking about repercussions or about your future, I would know, I was a cam girl at that age.
Sasha Grey was 18 on her first day on a porn set. Her co-star was 50, one of the biggest names in the industry, and before the cameras rolled she asked him to punch her in the stomach. He was so shocked he refused. 8 months later she had filmed over 80 adult movies, including one scene with 15 men, and sat on national TV describing it all like a summer job. Tyra Banks had to stop the show to pull herself together. In the video below, she sits on Tyra's couch and doesn't flinch once. She says porn was never a stranger to her. She'd seen it for years before she ever stepped on set. And she noticed the industry only showed one kind of woman. Her instinct told her: I could do this. Within 8 months, more than 80 films. She calls herself loud, aggressive, dominant and submissive at the same time. She expected to make up to $150,000 that year, minus the days she had to take off for infections. She says the work makes her feel empowered. She doesn't represent the industry. She represents herself. That first scene, she was nervous all day, terrified she'd freeze up. Once the cameras rolled, she says she felt completely in her element. Tyra asks where she draws the line. Her answer is short. Nothing involving children. Nothing involving animals. Everything else is on the table. Then the hardest conversation. Two weeks after moving to LA, her mom and sister came to visit. She showed them around Hollywood, took them to dinner, and spent the whole night trying to find the words. "I can't expect to get respect from you unless I have the respect to tell you." Her mom said her body was a temple. Her sister laughed, the scared kind of laugh. Tyra admits on air that this interview is really hard for her. Sasha talks about all of it so lightly. What happened next is the twist nobody saw coming. A few years later, she walked away from porn completely. Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh cast her as the lead in a movie. She landed a role on HBO's Entourage. She wrote novels, became a DJ and built a huge following as a gamer and streamer. Everyone on that TV set thought they were watching a girl throw her life away. She was the only one who already had a plan. Some lessons are written in other people's mistakes. Watch it once. Remember it forever.

Updated thread on @syd_sixx, a transphobic serial abuser who is banned from most queer spaces in the Bay Area. Here she is on a podcast talking about AGP pseudoscience, clearly the same face/tattoos, description links to “Frankie”, and Frankie’s substack links to “sydsixx”. The account @misandrymasc, Viernes, directly links to the substack as well. Syd/Frankie/Viernes claimed to me in DMs that her partner is a self identified AGP.

With all this lesbian separatist rhetoric going around, I'd like to remind y'all just how far into cisheterostandards we've regressed. From My Gender Workbook, published in 1997, please read how 100 queer people described themselves:

"My father Michael Massaroli...you do my dad's legacy and the legacy of all these victims no honor by using this tragedy to spread hate. We have seen a medley of people come up today, of all races, all religions, all creeds and this tragedy is just that, it's a tragedy. I've had to grow up and spend the past 25 years seeing people use it to hate on our Muslim brothers and sisters, to hate on people who don't look like them. That's wrong. That does no honor to the victims here...please stop." Full video here: youtube.com/live/Wkl0vAMmU0I…

Remembering Donna Summer on this day, who was likely a casualty of 9/11. Donna lived by the towers and reported breathing in toxic dust clouds. She later developed lung cancer and attributed it to the air quality on 9/11 and the days that followed. Donna died on May 17, 2012, at the age of 63.

25 years ago, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people, including 2,753 New Yorkers. As we remember that terrible day, let us also remember the first responders, office workers and strangers who ran toward danger to help each other. Let us remember the extraordinary compassion, resilience and bravery that carried our city through its darkest day. Today, New York remembers. We will Never Forget.

On September 15, 2001, Balbir Singh Sodhi was planting flowers outside his Arizona gas station when Frank Roque pulled up and fatally shot him. Roque wanted revenge for 9/11 and mistook Sodhi, a Sikh man, for a Muslim because of his turban. Sodhi became the first person killed in a post-9/11 retaliatory hate crime, marking the beginning of a devastating wave of violence against Muslims, Sikhs, Arabs, South Asians, and other brown Americans.
