🧵 NEW PAPER in @BloodJournal!
Why do IDH1 mutations almost exclusively drive myeloid #leukemia, while IDH2 mutations occur in both myeloid AND lymphoid cancers? #AML #Epigenetics
Despite sharing the same biochemical mechanism, they are NOT equivalent. Here's what we found 👇

‼️ Pre-print alert from the Lipka lab ‼️
Our latest work “Hierarchical classification of hematologic malignancies using epigenetic and genetic information” is now online!

Thanks to all colleagues who contributed to this work! 🙏
Decades of research have revealed the intricacies of how dendritic cells (DCs) function, but fundamental questions remain about how this group of cells develops in humans and how this process goes awry in disease. A thread on our new work! (1/9)

📢Another exciting seminar on CCEC, scheduled on Friday 6thJun@3PM,UKtime with Alvaro Rada Iglesias @IBBTEC Cantabria.
Alvaro will discuss: Enhancer-Promoter contact, a key feature in gene regulation, how and why?? link2join us06web.zoom.us/webinar/regi…

12/ To summarise:
→ IDH1 is highly expressed in myeloid progenitors (unlike IDH2)
→ Mutant IDH1 epigenetically silences Cebpe → neutrophil block
→ The block persists after IDH1 inhibition alone
→ IDH1i + hypomethylating agent fully rescues the defect
13/ Huge congratulations to first author @MariamHakobya20 and all collaborators and a big THANK YOU for all your efforts and support throughout the project! 🎉

Grateful to @JianXuLab for this perspective highlighting how oncogenes, developmental ontogeny, and cellular plasticity intersect in pediatric leukemia, alongside the JMML study by @mp_hartmann and @dblipka1. @BCD_AACR @CD_AACR aacrjournals.org/bloodcancer…
