Perhaps the most disturbing cultural trend I have seen in the last 5 years is the destruction of childhood innocence in an attempt to validate adults.

We are experiencing a crisis of the soul and labeling it politics. This crisis crosses over all barriers and boundaries. It cares not for labels, socioeconomic status, creed, race, or nationality. It's only goal is to claim moral superiority via the "correct" identification of a villian, who need not actually commit a crime. The only job the villian has is to be a scapegoat for those who need a body on which they can project their fantasies of Sauron while they pretend to be Frodo (holding their IPhone and capitalist beverage), without any actual suffering required of course. This crisis of the soul will continue until many more true leaders, like Kirk, show up to protect the very values that allow such displays of folly to meet the open exchange of ideas and be repelled for their shallowness and egocentrism. Until fathers present in the home out number fatherless homes. Until gender wars cease and the sexes learn to cooperate for the sake of children. Until all that is good, pure, lovely, and righteous becomes more sought than death, depravity, and pleasure. In short, some version of this will continue until Christ comes again. There has never been a time in politics when there wasn't a Don Quixote quest to slay the strawmen being used to create fear and control the masses.
this is not a small group of people on the left anymore, but a large, dominant faction without whom democrats can’t win elections. and there is no debating them, because they aren’t interested in changing your mind. they just earnestly want you to die.

Leslie is one of my favorite people on the planet. Her story is compelling and revealing. My profession is filled with political activism that harms patients.
Leslie Elliott Boyce, @JLeslieElliott, wanted to help people. But as she worked toward becoming a counselor, she found herself questioning what she was being taught-and whether she could finish the program without going against her conscience. She joins @DrMcFillin and @TracyAThurman to talk about what happened, why she spoke up, and what she wishes more people knew about counselor training. This happens in adult groups too. It just looks even more subtle and tends to be done largely via social media. A friend says they aren't doing anything later but then post a get together with other friends at their house on social media. A group will post similar or matching cryptic messages on social media making fun of or calling out a friend, but no names are mentioned causing those out of the inner circle to be confused about who is being talked about. Comments on posts will directly relate to the one being bullied, but seem innocuous to everyone else. It is all toxic, cult behavior designed to make the inner circle feel more bonded while the victim(s) are left wondering what the heck they did to deserve such treatment.
In psychotherapy I see the victims of this kind of bullying. The scars run very deep. It is a life altering experience

I see the case de jour for everyone to project their personal issues onto and fight about is the mother arrested for leaving her 4 kids home while on a work trip. I am learning a lot about those commenting on it. Those comments tell me exactly nothing about her, her situation, or her kids. My biggest concern now in our country is jury selection.

Mental Health Reminder of the Day If you are a person comfortable with confrontation, those who are not are likely uncomfortable with you. If you are a person who seeks emotional intimacy, those afraid of it will likely avoid you. If you are a person that struggles to make small talk, those who rely upon it will run out things to say to you. If you are a person that refuses to engage in gossip, those who convince themselves it is simply sharing news or prayer requests will fail to invite you to their gatherings or prayer circles. Sometimes being lonely is a symptom of your own issues. Sometimes it is a symptom of your integrity or depth of character. #MHRoD

Scripture tells me to walk in humility, seek truth and justice, apply mercy and grace, care for the widows, impoverished, and those at risk. It does not tell me to outsource my responsibilities to a government that will then wield that power to exploit those in dire straits in order to retain power and take from others to skim off the top/middle before passing the left overs to those in need. Spiritual abuse includes using Scripture for purposes outside of God's intention. He didn't intend his words to be used to guilt, manipulate, or lecture others into any political ideology or to vote for a particular candidate. Directions given to individuals or the "Church", as in the body of Christ, were not directions to be weaponized for political intent. For those who would ask, "but Robin are you doing those things"? I will respond with a question. What is your intention in asking that question? Because, whether I am (and thus following God's directions) or am not (and failing in parts of my walk) has no bearing on whether my claims above are true. I could be the most generous, caring, sacrificial, etc, etc, etc and still be wrong in Biblical interpretation. I could be the most selfish and cruel person and still be right in Biblical interpretation. Attempts to inquire as to my walk with Christ outside of the desire to encourage me in the Faith are not good faith intentions. They are ad hominiem attacks designed to distract from the claims made via attacking my character. Thus, more spiritual abuse.

Not to sound frustrated, but I am frustrated. I have been warning about the political take over of the APA (which began in the 1960s) for at least 7 years. It began when the APA climbed in bed with Planned Parenthood and spent the next 6 decades lying about the potential harms of abortion and silencing women who spoke up. So much so, a prochoice researcher found himself at the wrong end of journal editors when he dared to tell the truth. nz-herald-research-study-2006.pdf share.google/qniF0JxiuKfefZG…
🚨 NEW: For the @WSJ, @Hartz_PhD and I expose the ideological takeover of the American Psychological Association. The APA is facing the possible loss of its federal accreditation authority following allegations of widespread antisemitism. But while the APA's antisemitism problem is serious, it's only a symptom of a much deeper ideological rot. The organization has become so captured by radical left-wing political activism that its commitment to scientific objectivity competence is now in serious doubt. We examined the program for this year's major APA Division 39 conference, which drew nearly 800 attendees and held 90 panels over four days. By our count, roughly 70 of the 90 panels were overtly political, and always left-wing. Topics included abolishing the family, queer anarchist psychoanalysis, dismantling gender assessment guidelines, and white supremacy. One session even concluded with a drag show. There was at least some hope that the threat of losing federal accreditation might prompt some institutional soul-searching. It didn't. Instead, APA members just elected Candice Hargons as their next president. Her campaign identifies "systemic intersectional oppression" as the profession's "common enemy" and calls for rejecting the traditional scientific notions of objectivity. Psychologists wield enormous influence over vulnerable patients, and the people seeking treatment deserve the peace of mind knowing that the care they're receiving care is evidence based and not tainted radical politics. We believe most would agree that federal accreditation should actually mean something. If the APA cannot distinguish its scientific mission from its political activism, the Education Department should reconsider whether it deserves the government's endorsement as an authority over psychological training. Jennifer offers profound words for a culture that seems to think suffering is worse than death. To suffer on behalf of or with another is to love deeply and sacrificially. There is no end to this type of love. It is deeper than the pain and greater than the fear. It doesn't look away. Rather, it embraces and offers tenderness and strength.
I hope you take the time to read this. It’s about ART but even more abt suffering & what we do for those who suffer. Little did I know then, how much I wd need this reminder. “A culture that cannot tolerate an unresolved sorrow will always reach for a mechanism instead of a companion, because the mechanism promises to make the sorrow stop, and the companion only promises to stay.”

By far one of the most attractive qualities in a man is honor. Not the type of "honor" that seeks to obtain praise, amass power, or build wealth. The type of honor that seeks to will the good of the other even at the expense of his own comfort, ambition, or even happiness. I dare say Ephesians 5:25-33 may be the most difficult task in managing self-control ever given to humans. To lead is only possible when willing to place others first. While it is true that following means a laying down of pride, self-interest, and ambition; it is far easier to accomplish when offered a true leader. Of course, serpents will always come along whispering promises of secret knowledge in order to seduce away followers (be it a literal serpant in a garden or Margaret Sanger and a political movement. A true leader cannot prevent these serpents from existing or presenting (in true deception) like an answer to poor leadership from others. He can make the concept of following him a far more attractive and safe prospect. Following must be a chosen path, not demanded, coerced, or forced.

Something that continues to baffle me. Claim #1: The government should supply healthcare for all. Claim #2: The government should not be involved in my healthcare decisions. How does anyone reconcile these 2 claims? In earnest, what do people think happens when the government is providing healthcare? Do they genuinely believe government just direct deposits money into doctor's accounts, no questions asked? My patients who have Medicaid are consistently fighting with the government to get their healthcare needs met, and have been the entire 20 years I have been providing mental healthcare regardless of the party in control.
