🇷🇺Russia just fired a nuclear-capable ICBM from beneath the sea: The Borei-A submarine Generalissimo Suvorov launched a Bulava missile from a submerged position in the Sea of Okhotsk. Russia's Defence Ministry says the warheads hit their target in Arkhangelsk. Each Borei-class submarine carries 16 Bulava missiles. It comes a day after reports that three of Britain's four Trident submarines were at sea at the same time. Signal, or routine?

This morning, I took an Uber. The radio was discussing today's Bank of Canada interest rate announcement. I told the driver I think they'll raise rates by 25 basis points. His response caught me off guard. “Has this country gone mad? Are they trying to put everyone on the streets? There's no demand out there. People are struggling.” Then he told me something I'll never forget. The other day, he came across a homeless man and gave him his lunch. He said, “At least I can work and make some money. I can buy myself another lunch later. That man has no money, no food, nothing.” That conversation stayed with me. When an Uber driver understands the human cost of this economy better than the people making the decisions, you have to wonder how disconnected we've become. This is where Canada is today.

30 months. That's how long the US Typhon missile launcher has sat on Philippine soil. It arrived in April 2024 for an exercise, and Manila said it was temporary. Now a US Army Pacific officer tells Janes they've been learning lessons over "30 consecutive months", and that the system came "at the request of the AFP". It fires Tomahawks and SM-6s. The first Tomahawk launched from the Philippines flew during Balikatan on 5 May. His real interest : "How do you connect sensors and shooters". That's the language of a kill chain. Built on Filipino territory, aimed at Filipino neighbours. Mark my words. A "temporary" US missile system that never leaves turns its host into a permanent target. And it won't be Washington that pays.

🚨 BREAKING: CRITICAL 9.5/10 VULNERABILITY THREATENS SERVERS WORLDWIDE. HACKERS COULD EXECUTE CODE BEFORE THE OPERATING SYSTEM EVEN LOADS. Security researchers have uncovered a 16-year-old firmware vulnerability in technology used across the global server and data center ecosystem. CVE-2026-97631 affects TianoCore EDK II, a foundational component used by major UEFI firmware vendors. And the implications are serious. 🔴 Here's what we know: ➜ Pre-boot code execution: Attackers could execute malicious code at Ring 0, the CPU's highest privilege level, before operating system security controls are active. ➜ Widespread exposure: EDK II code is used extensively by firmware vendors including AMI, Insyde, and Phoenix, potentially exposing numerous enterprise servers. ➜ Security bypass potential: Successful exploitation could undermine the boot chain of trust and potentially enable persistent malware or compromise sensitive information. ➜ 16 YEARS UNDISCOVERED: The underlying buffer overflow has existed for approximately 16 years. ➜ Disclosure went wrong: Researchers from Anthropic and Google discovered the vulnerability, but a publicly released code fix exposed the issue months before its planned coordinated disclosure. ⚠️ THE BIG PROBLEM: A source-code fix has been merged, but affected servers still require firmware updates from their manufacturers. Distributing those updates across enterprise infrastructure could take considerable time. Important: Exploitation requires vulnerable firmware, PXE network boot, network access during the boot process, and target-specific knowledge. This is not an unrestricted remote exploit against every server. Organizations should immediately review their firmware exposure, disable unnecessary network boot functionality, and check for vendor updates. 🔐 Lucid Security is offering FREE initial security reviews to help businesses identify potential vulnerabilities and reduce their attack surface. 🌐 lucidsecurity.si CVE-2026-97631 | CVSS 9.5 CRITICAL Source: Ars Technica / TianoCore Security Advisory

🚨 AMERICA'S BIGGEST ALLIES ARE STARTING TO REJECT U.S. DEBT. U.S.-friendly nations have slashed their net purchases of long-term Treasuries by over 60%, falling to just $174.3 billion in the first eight months of 2026, the lowest for that period since 2021. And the numbers from Asia are even more concerning. • 🇯🇵 Japan, the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasuries, has cut its net purchases by a massive 99%. • 🇰🇷 South Korea dumped $23.8 billion, its biggest January–August sell-off since 1977. • 🇹🇼 Taiwan has also become a net seller. • 🇨🇳 China continues reducing its Treasury exposure. Meanwhile, U.S. national debt has reached a record $40.53 trillion, and the 10-year Treasury yield has crossed 5%. America needs more money than ever to finance its massive debt, but even its closest allies are buying far less or selling. If this continues, Washington could be forced to pay much higher interest rates to attract buyers, making its debt even more expensive. With $40.53 trillion already owed, the loss of demand from traditional foreign buyers could become a serious problem for the U.S. economy and global markets.
