I'm really proud that Councillor @miketmullaney and myself are among the elected representatives to have co-signed this letter to the Prime Minister calling for a Universal #BasicIncome to be introduced to help people through the #costofliving crisis.
Today we sent @RishiSunak a letter signed by 285 politicians, campaigners and academics calling for a Universal Basic Income to protect UK households from future crises.

Later today we will be launching our radical basic income pilot.
Simply put β this scheme gives care leavers a guaranteed monthly income to help set them on a path to live healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.
We'll explain in more detail in todayβs press conference.

In what was my fourth and final meeting of the day, it was great to hear updates about upcoming Universal #BasicIncome pilots and potential pilots in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
England needs to catch up!

At which I represent @UBILabLGBTQ.
Very exciting to hear about upcoming UBI pilots or plans for pilots in different parts of the UK.
A Universal #BasicIncome must be part of the mix to help lift people out of poverty and free people to have more time for what makes them happy.

This #LGBT+ History Month, the theme is 'Politics In Art: The Arc Is Long,' taken from the famous quote by Martin Luther King Jnr "The arc Is long but it bends towards justice.'
That must include economic justice, which a Universal #BasicIncome would help guarantee. MH
