Today marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. As a mark of respect, we will fly our flags at half-mast from sunrise to sunset to honour those who lost their lives in the attacks.
While reflecting on the tragedy of every life lost, as a service it's important that we take a moment to honour the emergency service workers who sacrificed their own lives to respond in service, including 343 firefighters.

🔥 A disposable BBQ left in a bin caused a fire that could easily have spread beyond the container and into surrounding vegetation.
Please pack a picnic, not a BBQ. Disposable BBQs can stay hot long after use and pose a serious wildfire risk.

In 35 years service I’ve never experienced such a protracted period of high demand & call volume. Today, just one example, we had two 8🚒 moorland fires and a 7🚒 building fire all running simultaneously alongside BAU. So proud of everyone at @manchesterfire and @NW_Fire_Control
Spent yesterday riding no.5 on Gorton’s first pump 🚒 A very…very busy day..! attending incidents across the city. Seeing first hand how firefighters are responding to what is an exceptionally busy period @manchesterfire is impressive. Thank you White Watch for your hospitality.
