From the genocidal fields of Gaza.
A new video taken this morning shows israeli bulldozers destroying the remains of Palestinian houses east of Khan Younis.

“Israel’s war in Gaza has become a death trap for the media. My Office has verified the killing of nearly 300 journalists since October 2023, with many more injured.” Volker Türk, UN Human Rights Chief
A free press is the oxygen of a free society. Yet efforts to silence the media are becoming disturbingly creative – and normalized. States must end the persecution of journalists and act to protect them. We must stand with those who stand for truth.   ohchr.org/en/statements-and-…

Nearly 60 MEPs call for a comprehensive ban on EU trade with Israel's illegal settlements, after @kajakallas agreed to look into the matter with EU Commission last week. Led and supported by many centrist MEPs, incl. some from centre-right EPP. hildevautmans.eu/wp-content/…

One of thousands of war crimes by Israel and IDF. And they don’t seem to care. All calls and cries for restraints and compassion are met with contempt or ridicule by Israeli government extremists

Shameful decision from the French Government: The Decision to deny entry to Shawan Jabarin, veteran Palestinian human rights defender and General Director of Al-Haq, is both shameful and deeply troubling. Shawan is a human rights defender who has dedicated his life to pursuing justice for international crimes. He is denied entry into the Schengen area, while individuals wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity are able to travel freely. This stark and absurd double standard should prompt urgent reflection among European states on their commitment to accountability and the consistent application of international justice. We call on the French Government to reverse its decision so that Shawan can travel to France. amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2…

Today, The Hague Group convened 40 states for a legal briefing on Israel’s new death penalty law for Palestinians (and not for Israelis). This new law, voted in the Knesset on March 30, is the latest chapter in Israel’s increasingly horrific Apartheid. The meeting was held under strict Chatham House rules, so I’ll just share a a few considerations: Israel’s new law establishes the death penalty by hanging which will be determined by military courts in the West Bank or civilian courts in Israel. The law introduces the imposition of a mandatory death penalty for certain crimes, whether or not the prosecution has requested the death penalty in the first place. The law precludes pardons, and establishes that executions must take place within 90 days of the sentence. Israel’s military courts, of course, are not transparent. They both operate in secrecy and rely on secret evidence. These trials therefore are not fair trials. It’s very important to understand these executions will amount to war crimes, especially given the military occupation Palestinians are subjected to. The judiciaries (including judges and prosecutors) involved in the commission of these war crimes will therefore be potentially subjected to international prosecution. Moreover, it is already clear that the new death penalty law will add force to the case for genocidal intent that is at the core of South Africa’s ICJ case against Israel under the Genocide convention. ohchr.org/en/press-releases/…

I appeal to European leaders: it is never too late to do the right thing. Stopping trade with and arms transfers to Israel, in light of the illegal occupation and associated crimes, is your obligation. What else must Israel do for you to suspend this agreement?
🚨 Action! On April 21, EU foreign ministers will decide whether to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement — or delay again. What they do depends on pressure from us. #SanctionsNow Suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement NOW! action.eko.org/a/suspend-the…

Territorial expansion in defiance of int’l law has become a new normal for Israel related to Gaza, Lebanon and Syria. Russia adds to this trend by its war in Ukraine and US by its claims on Greenland. Spheres of interest policies undermine the @UN Charter and world peace.

Forza Europeans! Only 200,000 signatures needed to push EU institutions to suspend the indecent partnership agreement with Apartheid Israel. Bcs it is not OK to make business with a State that commits intl crimes on a daily basis. Power to the People. Together #weR1
Almost 800.000 signatures: “EU citizens cannot tolerate that the EU maintains an agreement that contributes to legitimize and finance a State that commits crimes against humanity and war crimes. Full suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.” eci.ec.europa.eu/055/public/…

BREAKING: In 2021, Israel designated Defence for Children International – Palestine @DCIPalestine, offered no evidence, and moved against its lawyers and that of five other Palestinian civil society groups to prevent effective appeal. By July 2022, nine EU States (Belgium , Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden) publicly concluded that Israeli claims were unsubstantiated and continued their support to the NGOs. DCIP endured. But institutions do not break overnight; they are worn down, incrementally, by accusation without proof and pressure without recourse. What we are now witnessing is not an isolated episode, but a method of frivolous allegations and repression. One that will not stop at Palestinian organisations and will affect Israeli and international NGOs. Measures framed as security regulation operate, in practice, to constrict humanitarian space, undermine human rights protection, and erode the institutional capacity through which Palestinians exercise agency and pursue self-determination.

The use of Unilateral Coercive Measures (UCM) to punish individuals for political reasons violates multiple fundamental rights including due process, and must be halted immediately.
