Professor @s_m_marandi called heightened demonization of Iran in Western media a sign war is near and a tool to make aggression more palatable.
He dismissed reports of Iranian plots against Americans as propaganda to stoke fear, noting Iran doesn’t target American civilians and could easily kill Americans in the region (e.g., Iraq) but hasn’t.

I spoke with Professor Mohammad Marandi as reports of another American strike on Iran grow increasingly serious.
He believes war is now highly likely, and says Iran's response would be far more destructive than anything we've seen so far.
Not just military bases. Oil facilities, banks, data centers and undersea internet cables could all become targets.
He also warned that Gulf countries helping Washington could face devastating attacks on their critical infrastructure.
But the conversation took a disturbing turn when I asked about his own safety.
Marandi told me he'd received warnings that he could personally be targeted for assassination.
He's currently in China, yet insists on returning to Iran.
I pressed him on why he'd willingly put himself in danger.
He believes it's his responsibility to stay and speak out.
I've strongly criticized Iran's government and the IRGC. But threatening to kill someone for their political views is indefensible.
Whatever happens next, I sincerely hope we aren't about to witness another round of assassinations and a war that could devastate the region.
